My goodness. This looks so real it's amazing. Is the watch yours? And how old is it? I know some Waltham watches are quite old.

You are so lucky. How did you come by the watch? Did it belong to someone in your family, or did you just happen upon it?

i purchased it in a small junk shop in Lexington Mo for 50$ in 1992 it was just siting there in a case full of watches. it was not even the nicest one but it was all i could afford at the time. i did not know what a precious watch it was until years later when i took it with me on a buying trip to find a fob for it and the owner of the shop i was in was like so excited about my watch he nearly dropped it. he was the one the clued me in on it

Wow! Aren't you lucky. My dad used to have two wonderful pocket watches - one from his grandfather and one from his grandmother she was young. His grandmother's was, I think, one of the first wrist watches that was ever made. It had a strap, but it was the size of, and looked like a large pocket watch. Thieves broke into our house one weekend while we were away and swiped them off his dresser. So painful and sad to lose it.

the fist wrist watches were made during the civil war and were only for woman it was not until the 1930 that men started Waring them

I think, perhaps her watch was made earlier than that. A couple of sites I checked on said that the first wrist watches were invented in the late 1800's, and I think her wrist watch dated back to the very early 1900's. Sadly, it's gone now though. I wish I knew more about it though.

No, I have attention deficit disorder, I'll just get bored with the classes in case I win any.

ya i thought of that. i'm a pretty advanced painter to be taking a class but its in my home town so i would get to see my family. if i win and don't like the classes i can always use the studio time for something else but on the other hand i'm notoriously bad at wining stuff my art is to old fashioned for most judges these were the most contemporary paintings i had
