Description Elena set out on a half hour walk towards the edge of Oakwich Forest- the destination of her guildtask. The forest itself was massive, stretching far to the south, with the deeper sections being unclaimed territory and dangerous wilderness. Her attire was not entirely suited for long travel on foot- one day she would own a horse, like the other accomplished mages. After a short journey, she arrived at the edge of the Oakwich, got off the dirt road and headed into the forest. There was no visible path to follow, though luckily the summer season meant that Elena didnt have to trudge through the autumn leaves and branches.

She spent twenty minutes walking southwards, avoiding tree roots, rocky outcroppings, and other potential tripping hazards.
"Alright. Now, where are you little critters hiding?" She muttered under her breath while scanning the woods in front of her. The guildtask didnt call for any specific creature to be hunted- any lesser "monster" fit within the rules, such as giant rodents, large insectoids, goblins, wolves, imps, and more- essentially any creature that would prey on livestock and posed a threat to farmers.

Elena continued on for another fifteen minutes before she came to an abrupt halt, out not even a dozen meters away from her was a short goblin, clutching a stone in its hands and staring at her dead in the eye. It wore only a small rag around its waist, revealing its stout arms and legs, emaciated body, and large hands. Goblins were a lesser subset of the Greenskin race, and were a far less dangerous foe than the Orcs. They lived in interlinked tribes throughout the wilderness and Southern Badlands, and had a primitive way of life. A lone goblin was an easy picking for a trained soldier, though they were more dangerous in numbers.

Elena had to act quickly, before the lone goblin could alert any more that could be close by. Goblins often hunt for food in groups, and were undiscerning about their prey- whether it was a stolen chicken from a farm or an unlucky human. She grabbed her wand and fumbled with her spellscroll case, popping open the cover and unfurling the scroll in front of her. Her eyes darted between the scroll and the goblin- it hadnt moved yet and was still staring at her intently. Little did she know, its eyes were fixated on her thin gold necklace- a family heirloom whom she received as a child- which glinted beautifully in the sun. Goblins loved shiny trinkets, and often exchanged them for considerable amounts of food, tools, and weapons. Elena's eyes darted back to her scroll and she began to chant the wind spell, while aiming her wand towards the goblin.
"Uttol domin sol-" She had hardly uttered the first few words when the goblin snarled and pitched the stone it was clutching over its shoulder.
