Description
I've had my ideal cast for a good version of the movies for years now (obviously updated as actors get too old, Val Kilmer, David Boreanaz, etc, or when new faces show up, such as Taylor Momsen and Hayley Williams), and I don't want to brag, but I think its pretty good. But, I'll let you be the judge of that.
Oh, and check this out: [link]
Minor Edit: I've replaced Jeff Daniels with Jeffrey Dean Morgan. I think he's a better choice for Barry.
Second Edit: I've replaced Neal McDonough with Cillian Murphy, at the suggestion of RAYHEART, for the role of Alfred Ashford. He'd be great for the part, and sticks a little bit closer to the game incarnation than McDonough would.
Along those lines, I've replaced Uma Thurman with Julie McNiven for the role of Alexia Ashford. This not because I don't think Uma's right for the part (I do), but because I thnik McNiven would suit Cillian's Alfred better.
And I've also changed Jason Behr's photo. Some people complained about his likeness to Billy, and although I'll be the first to admit he's not as close as some of my these other choices, I still think he fits. This new photo shows the fit a little better.
Third Edit: A few more changes to the cast list. I've included Rosario Dawson as RE5's Sheva Alomar, updated Spencer's pic, and changed the actors for Ada Wong, Annette Birkin, and Steve Burnside, with Zhang Shao Hin instead of Lexa Doig, Naomi Watts instead of Bridget Fonda, and Anton Yelchin instead of Jon Foster, respectively.
Chris Redfield - Chris Evans
Jill Valentine - Kristen Bell
Albert Wesker - Christian Bale
Barry Burton - Jeffrey Dean Morgan
Rebecca Chambers - Hayley Williams
Richard Aiken - Ben Foster
Forres Speyer - Steve Burton
Enrico Marini - Jimmy Smitts
Brad Vickers - Seann William-Scott
Kevin Dooley - Bruce Campbell (This guy gets a cameo, dammit)
Billy Coen - Jason Behr
Leon Kennedy - Jensen Ackles
Claire Redfield - Natalie Portman
Ada Wong - Zhang Shao Han
Sherry Birkin - Elle Fanning
HUNK - David Morse
William Birkin - Edward Norton
Annette Birkin - Naomi Watts
Carlos Oliviera - Gale Garcia Bernal
Mikhail Victor - Sean Bean
Nicholai Ginnovaef - Igor Jijikine
Steve Burnside - Anton Yelchin
Alfred Ashford - Cillian Murphy
Alexia Ashford - Julie McNiven
Sergei Vladimir - Dolph Lundgren
Ozwell E. Spencer - John Hurt
Ashely Graham - Taylor Momsen
Luis Sera - Eduardo Verastegui
Ramon Salazar - Bill Nighy
Jack Krauser - John Cena
Sheva Alomar - Rosario Dawson

Seriously for Saddler I say Jack Nickelson.
Leon Scott Kennedy SHould be played by Keanu Reeves or Matt Damon.
And Billy Cohen goes good with Hugh Jackman.
Luis (judging by his whack-sack humour) I go for Antonio Banderas.

The only think I believe would have to be switched are Leon and Chris. I think Evans would work better as Leon and Jensen as Chris.

My friends and I always thought Ben Barnes would be a good Luis, probably because of his role/accent in "Prince Caspian" and how he's been growing stubble lately.
Great job!

This cast list is AMAZING. I'm currently researching deep into Resident Evil to actually script my own versions of the games, and they're not gonna be Anderson's absolutely-nothing-at-all-like-the-game type, they're gonna be as spot as I can get it. I'm conversing with a lot of hardcore Resident Evil fans to try and get this to work. I hope you don't mind, but I'd really like to take some of these guys into consideration for casting, especially Bale (who I'd never have thought of, but a lot of people seem to like...).
I was already 100% set on Jensen as Leon (nobody better, in my mind) and JDM as Barry (yes, SPN fan = P) although with my other mains (Jill, Chris, Ada, and Claire) I've already decided on somebody else.
But anyway, excellent list, and again I hope you don't mind if I take some of these into consideration!

Have fun with that. I've already written a script for the first game, which I've titled Resident Evil: Inception, and am about half way through the sequel script (which is a combination of games 2 and 3, set on the same day, not two or however many days apart they actually were.) I've been working on this project on and off for two years, I've written draft after draft, and have even gone as far as to start storyboarding the action scenes. I'm just saying, this is my dream project, so if you have plans to make a real movie off these games you better be prepared to fight me for the right .
But can I offer a word of advice? Don't make it a carbon copy of the game. There's no point in changing it as much as Anderson did, but the story needs to be changed for the purpose of film. If you noticed on my cast list, I included Forest Speyer and Richard Aiken, but none of the other Bravos like Sully or Edward, or even alpha memeber Joseph. This is because I've changed the story of the game, and gave both Forest and Richard a larger role. Although the both die by the end of the movie, as they do in the game, neither is killed the same way they do in the game. This is for the surprise. Fans of the games are fickle, and want an exact copy of the game, but if that's what they're given, they won't like it. On top of that, I've killed two characters in my scripts who haven't yet died in the games, just for the shock value. You need to seperate your film from the game, while at the same time keeping it recognisable.
Things need to change. Elements need to be rewritten. And for the love of God, don't have Barry say "Master of Unlocking" or "Jill Sandwhich." And if at all possible, keep in the spirit of Zombie movies and never have a character say the word "Zombie."
And who do you have in mind for Jill, Chris, Ada and Claire? I've updated this list several times already because of suggestions I've received from other fans (most recently Cillian Murphy for Alfred Ashford). I don't think there is anyone better for Jill than Kristen Bell (great actress, a perfect physical resemblance, plus she's a huge NERD and I could totally see jumping aboard a project like this), but I know there's someone out there better for Chris.

XtremeSparrow0290 In reply to 23MoreThanYou [2009-01-17 18:26:31 +0000 UTC]
Oh they definitely won't be carbon copies - there'd be absolutely no point in just... watching the game, at least that 's what I think anyway. I was going to combine 2 and 3 into one as well, but my friend advised me not to as there's WAY too much ground to cover; I really love the character of Brian Irons, so I'd like to involve him a fair bit.
I think one - maybe the only reason an awful lot of people want to write a Resi script is because Anderson was such a bum at it XD As much as I did enjoy the movies, they pretty much have absolutely nothing to do with Resident Evil.
In terms of characters, I was considering keeping Sienna Guillory as Jill, although that may (actually, it probably WILL) change in the future = P As for Claire... this may sound stupidly vain, but I think I'd pull off a pretty good Claire myself. I have her colouring in terms of hair, although I'm a little shorter than her, but my "advisors" (i.e. Super Resi fans = P) have told me that I resemble her. Ada is really hard to cast I find, so for the moment I've picked Kelly Hu - but, the same with Jill, that might change. But my Chris is 100% set - Johnny Messner. I think he resembles him SO much (apart from his weight gain) but I'm willing to whip him back into shape for this role! He's a pretty good actor, and I think he resembles RE5 Chris (which is the heroic-looking Chris, therefore I actually BELIEVE that he could kick Wesker's butt = P).
And, in terms of the screenwriting itself, I wish you all the best ^_^ I think converting video games to films is the hardest of them all, because you have to remove the gameplay element, and whereas with books you only have a description to go by, with videogames you're slightly restricted to having it look EXACTLY like something that already has its face... if that makes sense.
May the best script win! XD
Although let's not forget how many incarnations Batman has had = P Maybe we'll both me lucky!

You'd be surprised how easily 2 and 3 meld together, especially if you're willing to take liberties (G is in, obviously, but Mr. X is out. Some of his material is still there, but it nows belongs to Nemesis), and Clarie, Leon and Sherry run into Jill and Carlos about two thirds of the way through. Not to mention, Rebecca and Billy have a small part in the story now, too. Ada gets a lot more screentime than she did in the game, too.
About your casting, I don't know you, I don't know how much you look like Claire or how well you can act. If you're right for the part, itβs not vain at all. If you're wrong for it... well, that's another story XD
But Guillory isn't right for Jill. She wasn't right for Anderson's movies and she's not right for a reboot. Even if she was, you can't bring her back for a reboot, because then you're linking the two sets of films together. You don't want to do that anymore than you have to. As for Messner for Chris.... maybe if you start from RE5. He bears a slight resemblance to REmake Chris, which is what I'm running off of, but, like you said, a good resemblance to RE5 Chris. But the problem is age. Both Guillory and Messner are too old for RE1. While I think 23/24 is far too young (even though that's what the characters are supposed to be), I think late 20s, like how I've casted them, works. And Kelly Hu... sorry, no. She's forty. And you want to put her against a 28 year old Jensen?
And I don't want to sound vain, but I know how to write screenplays. Especially adaptations. One of my first projects was a monster sized script (well over 400 pages) for Final Fantasy VII. It took nearly three years, and although the finished project is un-filmable, I learned a lot in doing so. I've got another 7 adaptations under my belt (including RE1), as well as another 4 originals. I havenβt sold any of them, but thatβs because I want to finish college before attempting a career in film. The way I see it though, the timing will be great. RE4 is in production now, with a 2010 release date I think (maybe 2011). Thatβll probably end the movie series, and then I just wait for a couple of years of downtime, and then attempt to reboot the series, and time the movie release with the 20th anniversary of the original game. (God, Iβm getting old...)

Heh... I planned to release it as the exact same time = P
Oh I have screenwriting experience too - granted, the first one I wrote was TERRIBLE, but I'm writing originals and adaptations, and even my Film Studies teacher told me that I know more about screenwriting than she does O_O I may only be 18/19, but I learn fast, and I've been scripting for over 7 years. Not only that, but I've been told that I could have the skill of a published author, which helps me story wise, I suppose.
I started writing scripts for TV, then I moved on to movies - I've tried adapting Tomb Raider, but... I don't know. As much as I love her, something doesn't work. It's probably the presence of the other movies, with Angelina as Lara. And the rumours of a number 3 - that probably won't be DONE for years > . <
I did think about the Sienna thing with her being in REA, but then my good friend is a huge Jill Valentine fan, and he thought she was pretty good. Although it'd probably confuse the hell outta people and make them wonder where Alice is -_-
Age doesn't bother me in terms of the actors - they'll probably change any, for example there's no WAY you could cast Sherry now if you're planning to do the film in 2016, because the kid would be way too old. And besides, Jensen is 31 this year, which means he'd be about 38 by the time of filming, way older than Leon is in RE2 - and he'll be older by the time filming finishes. And like you said about the Jill/Sienna thing, they were in talks to put Jensen in the current line of films anyway, so if that did happen (and I PRAY it doesn't) then that would mean looking for a new Leon - which I ain't doing, 'cause Dean = Leon in my opinion.
π: 0 β©: 1
23MoreThanYou In reply to XtremeSparrow0290 [2009-01-19 07:39:58 +0000 UTC]
I know about Jensen. He's one of the ones I know is too old that I just haven't found a good replacement for (because there isn't one). But I also interpreted RE2 Leon as RE4 Leon, older, more experienced, which leaves the role open for a few more years. I don't want an RE4 movie because it wouldn't work with the trilogy I've set up, but I prefer the RE4 Leon (as most people do) so that's where that decision came from. As for Elle, she's actuall too young for the role now, so she could still play Sherry for a number of years. But really this list is for a "right here, right now" movie, not "a couple of years down the road" movie. I have no doubt new faces would pop up by then, anyway. I've been habitually updating this list for years (Evans only took the Redfield role this year, before him it was David Boreanaz) and will continue to do so until these movies get made.
It seems you and I are in the same boat ability-wise, I'm only 19, as well, with one major exception. My script is done now. Looks like I have to call up Capcom a little sooner than I thought XD. I just recently took a script workshop course through college (a complete waste of time, actually. I learned nothing new), but I got nothing but complements from the prof. He was astounded at my turnaround time. I pumped out four quality scripts in the time that was assigned for one. Granted, two of them were adapts, and one was a full length extension to a short one I had previously written, but, you get the idea.
Right now I'm trying to figure out whether or not I should be worried about you. On the one hand, my chances of actually getting to make this movie are slim, as are yours, but I suddenly feel like, five years from now, I'm gonna make this excellent pitch to Capcom only to find out they already hired this girl who went ahead and cast herself as Claire... I guess if that happens I'll have to go make a really crappy Tomb Raider 4 movie out of spite.

It isn't that hard if you're really into it. I'll admit that I'm a pretty big movie buff (as well as Resident Evil nerd), so a majority of these just came to me when watching the actor in a different role and thinking how well they'd play this character or that character. It's a list that gets constantly updated as I watch more movies and get exposed to more actors.
Plus, I'm an aspiring film maker (currently in school, working on my first "real" film), and Resident Evil is my dream project.

Wow, I agree with your casting, also. I guess it's just a strong matter of opinion, and there are just way too many possibilities out there to truly side on one.
Although, as soon as I heard that Jensen Ackles was a possible for the voice in RE4, I threw a fit. He would've made a great Leon, both voice and live action.
I respect your opinions... And I think I want to try and make one of these, too, now.
π: 0 β©: 1
23MoreThanYou In reply to YunalanaStarphyer [2008-11-12 06:42:32 +0000 UTC]
Where did you hear he was in the running to voice Leon for RE4? He was very unknown back then, and is still reletively unknown. He was supposed to be in the running for Leon for the fourth Resident Evil movie, but that was just an unconfirmed rumor.
And I definitely encourage you to make your own list like this. I only responded to your comment on the other guy's list because you said you were qualified because you wanted to make movies. They're just words until you can back them up. I've seen some pretty poor cast lists for all sorts of movies, as well as some very good ones, and you gain a lot more respect from fellow filmmakers if you know a good cast list over a poor one.
When making your list, you should remember not to fill it with tons of big name actors. Even if they all want to make the movie, which they won't, the studio won't be willing to pay for them. If you look at my list, the one real big actor on there is Christian Bale. Everyone else is varying from levels of well-known to undiscovered, and are relatively easier to get into a movie like this. When you try and present a cast to a studio, not only do you have to give them good, hot, popular actors, you also need to give them actors they're willing to pay for.

I can't remember exactly where I read it, but, I do remember that they were thinking about letting him be Leon in the 4th game. And, it brings me shame to think of there being a fourth movie... And that they would sodden the name further by bringing Leon into it. Ugh.
Anyway, back on the point, I do remember that in... 2001, was it? I think... I can't remember. They were considering him to be in the 4th game, not the movie. I remember that.
Hah, yea, I do realize that a lot of people don't have many well-known actors/actresses in these things. And, when I thought up a list in my head, I didn't necessarily come up with popular actors... Really. I came up with people I thought would play the part well. Yay, I guess I'm a baby step closer to being a good casting director. ^^

23MoreThanYou In reply to YunalanaStarphyer [2008-11-14 09:33:22 +0000 UTC]
Just keep working at it. Remember that for every person you cast you have to have a good reason behind it, especially if you want to be a casting director. The movie director (and sometimes the studio) get the last say in the casting department, so really the job of the casting director is just to try and persuade them to hire this guy over another. You may know Jensen Ackles is perfect for Leon, but until you convince the director of that, he's still sticking with Tom Crusie.

Grim-Reaper-HUNK [2008-11-12 01:52:11 +0000 UTC]
I think David Morse is way too old for HUNK, and Neil McDonough is too manly for Alfred Ashford. A couple of the guys here are either too manly or not manly enough - unless you're going for their acting performance more than their look. I'm not really sure.
But that's just all my opinion. I think you did a great job on this project!
π: 0 β©: 1
23MoreThanYou In reply to Grim-Reaper-HUNK [2008-11-12 06:28:18 +0000 UTC]
Morse is old. But I got the idea of using him from hailtotheking, and I chose him for his acting skills and physical appearance alone. Seeing as HUNK won't get much screen time and only never removed his helmet on screen, the actor portraying him isn't that big a deal.
As for Neil McDonough, I admit he's older and more masculine than Alfred, but he's a good actor. I took a lot into consideration when casting, from physical appearance of the actor to their character, as well as their actual acting talent, and lastly, whether or not they would even do a movie like this. I see no point in casting huge name actors when they would never do a movie like this. Christian Bale is the one exception, but a studio can usually convince at least one big name to take a project.

Grim-Reaper-HUNK In reply to 23MoreThanYou [2008-11-13 01:11:01 +0000 UTC]
That's all true. I would imagine Christian Bale would be willing to do it if the script and direction was good. He seems to be one of those smart actors who takes work that they like and not just whatever comes their way.
If he knew it was a reboot and not part of the Anderson line of movies, he might be down. I mean come on, if you can reboot something that included Batman & Robin, you can reboot anything.
