Description
After a suggestion to 'frame' the diamond texture by a fellow modeler on Foundation 3D - I found it easier just to remodel and redesign the main armor from the ground up. Therefore here is my new armor for my Babylon 5 Warlock Destroyer.I will be redesigning the weapons as well - these match fairly closely what was on the example model of the one used in the show - but they really have little detail. Therefore I will be redesigning them to be a compromise between what the show had and creating better looking, more realistic main guns.
View in large size to see the detail.
Cinema 4D
*EDIT*:
This model is available for FREE in my webstore:

All I ask is that you please send me links of the renders you make with this ship, I would love to see them!

Thanks - well you also must realize that Babylon 5 was quite some time ago, and in the early days of Lightwave 3D software has made huge strides since then. I would love to see Babylon 5 come back with today's technology and given the face-lift that BSG got

It did look much cooler with the dark pattern between the armor.

Some of that will be back once I finish detail the 'tween' parts of the armor Though what I can gather from screens (always at bad angles or just too far away or dark >.> ) is that the armor is basically almost the same color throughout.

Framing the armor really turned out great. Also good to hear you will be expanding on the turret design.

Thanks - yep I followed the model example that Tim Earls showed in that other Warlock thread, and on his blog, but that example model wasn't detailed very much at all. I think the guns need a lot of work on mine - yours are looking pretty sweet though

And that is the challenge of build on an existing show model.
I'll admit I really do like making guns and turrets so I do give them a bit extra love on a model. Today I just finished making the plasma cannons for the ships. They are the same ones you see on Babylon 5 itself that firers the green bolts.
Here is a link for a sneak peak. [link]

Yes it is a challenge, and for whatever reason they chose (perhaps not a complete model or something, perhaps not detailed enough due to time constraints etc, the Warlock is definitely a difficult one to get any reasonable shots of for building - it has been frustrating lol.

LOL it is nice being able to do that though there are times I prefer seeing the white clay renders of a highly detailed model over the textured one - that way you can actually see the hard work a modeler put into a piece. Texture can make or break a model, but it can also hide a lot of stuff

Indeed. Im not a very good modeler, so texturing could help.
