Description The last decade has been a wonderful time for Humanity.  A lot has happened.  A lot has developed.  Science has come a long way and people are much more open to things now than they were.  The laboratory, 2B Laboratories, were one of the first commercial routes to go for professional and legal transformations to ones body.  Our business had been set up so that eventually, we'd be affordable and accessible to anyone who desired a change.  Temporary or permanent.  However, what no one expected was that, as the world reached a level of understanding and scientific advancement, certain other entities became known.  We'd all heard stories and folk lore of mythical creatures and monsters, witches and magic.  But those were all stories.  Or so we thought.  With certain transformations and changes now having a legal explanation in science, creatures that were unheard of started appearing in the public eye.  These creatures often claimed to be transformed people, yet with no previous identities.  Conspiracies started surfacing that these people were genuine monsters, who saw these changes as an opportunity to live real lives, without hiding in shadows and folk lore.

In addition to these mysterious appearances, a few other companies appeared, claiming to do what we could do.  For cheaper.  It was in our best interests to look into these companies.  Most were dangerous, with little in the way of protection.  Some were knock offs of our own treatments.  However, there was one company that caught our eye.  We reached out to a few people who had underwent amazing treatments, and had claimed they had been cheaper and easier than what we offered.  We were immediately interested in finding out more.  Dr. Kate Summers took a rather strong interest in this.  As did Dr. Grey.  The two of them had tracked this company to a small shop somewhere in a busy town street.  Dr. Grey had been able to locate it, but was confused.  The shop on the map was tiny.  He couldn't understand how such a small establishment was able to achieve such perfect and technologically advanced transformations.  On her own time, Dr. Summers decided she was going to visit the shop, to learn all she could about it and their practices.  What she found took us all by surprise.

The shop looked old.  Really old.  Almost Victorian in it's structure.  Wooden fittings, warped glass that looked easily a hundred years old.  Peeling and crackling paint.  Yet despite that, it had an allure to it.  It seemed perfect and beautiful in it's imperfections.  It felt familiar.  A wooden sign dangled above the door, with beautiful golden lettering.  "The Rosewood Emporium".  It took a little courage for Dr. Summers to finally take a step inside, opening the old wooden door .  A bell tingles above.  The scent of sweet floral perfume greeted her, along with the wonderful smell of old books and paper.  The shop was full of books and items that seemed to be from before the invention of print.  Jam packed with all sorts of oddities and curiosities.  It was immediately clear to Dr. Summers that this was not a laboratory.  Not by any means.  It seemed quiet, lit only by the light coming in from the windows and sky lights.  Following the light up to the the rafters, Dr. Summers would come to lay eyes on one of the stores employees.

A smug and playful face met Dr. Summer's own inquisitive look.  The creature was certainly not Human, golden fur and large feather wings.  Most sinister was the tail that hung below the rafter she was laying on, holding an uncorked vial of mysterious liquid.  Being discovered by the pink haired feline was enough to cause the Sphinx to back off a little, halting it's attempt to douse the doctor.  A security measure, the creature warns.  The Sphinx seemed intentionally vague and misleading during Dr. Summers' questioning and quickly became bored of all the questions.  It was at that moment the bell of the front door chimes again, causing both to look towards it.  There, in the door frame, was a real, bona fide Witch.  Her skin was soft and pale, decorated in freckles.  Orange hair in a braided ponytail that ran to the bottom of her shoulder blades.  The clothing was what gave it away.  The black dress, old fashioned in it's design.  But it was the hat that really gave it away.  Buckled and pointed, like the things from fairy tales.  There was no doubt about it.

Thankfully the Witch seemed a little more cooperative than her mythical companion, and before long, the two women were talking over tea under the lazing Sphinx.  The Witch, who introduced herself as Evie, explained to Dr. Summers that she'd been practising spells and magic for a long long time.  She'd been offering spells and potions to people for years, for a cost of course.  In truth, the Emporium remained mostly hidden form the public, but as curiosity grew around technology, the desire and aspirations of the people grew, and it started appearing before more and more people.  Still, Ms. Evie was not willing to let slip any of her trade secrets.  When darkness fell, Dr. Summers made her way back to the laboratory.  It had been an interesting visit.  It seems 2B Laboratories has found a rather interesting and rather magical competitor~

That's a fun sort of security system. Neat pose on the rafters, too.

Yay for crossover shenanigans involving settings that feel like they shouldn't be mixed except it's totally fine once you understand how science actually works.

Tagging rosewood-witch  for fairly self-evident reasons.

It's true, the secret to all science is magic.

dr who might want to disagree with you considering that magic IS science at a level that the spieces you're showing it to doesn't understand e.g timelord technology to humans or human technology to most if not all other living creatures on earth

I'm familiar with Clarke's Third Law, but consider that any sufficiently analysed magic is indistinguishable from science.

Wrong way round, and only Sith deal in absolutes, but dead-on otherwise. At the very least, the magic that can have science done to it is the only magic worth talking about.

If you don't think a computer using a rock covered in runes and charged with strange power isn't magic then I don't know what to tell you, my Sith friend.
