One of the goals that we have here at the laboratories, and one we believe should be a part of any scientific endeavour, is the desire to always learn more. In doing so, we broaden our understanding of certain things and ultimately we can then use those things to improve our treatments and handling of clients. As part of this, we will often seek out individuals who possess unique and interesting attributes, so that we might learn from them. In a lot of these cases, these individuals are in the dark about some of their genetics, and so our research can actually provide them some insight too. Ms. Kalama was one such case, a girl who had some unique abilities, as well as a very unique appearance. Her head and hair in particular were something that we didn't understand when we first met her. Her hair is made up of molten lava. In addition, her forearms are also incredibly hot. It was a... challenging case to study to say the least.

It baffled us how Ms. Kalama wasn't burning herself. In addition, it seems that her clothing was undamaged too, yet any reading we took suggested that the temperature of her hair and arms was... well, through the roof. It took several of our doctors multiple attempts to make sense of it. Ultimately, we're still not sure what conclusions to draw. We believe, based on Ms. Kalama's explanation of how she came into this state, that she may have had a dormant gene which was activated by certain intense peril. In Ms. Kalama's case, this happened when she was researching an active volcano. We're trying to pinpoint this gene and see if we can reverse engineer it and to better understand how it affects the human body. As for Ms. Kalama herself, we believe her temperature can be controlled almost subconsciously, which would explain why her hands don't burn through her own body. We also theorise that her body is incredibly resistant to heat, another side effect of this afore mentioned gene.
