What I like about this is the fact the dwarf has no moustache- seriously! It makes it stand out from the usual Tolkien clones, the way the beard is shorter and comes up high on the cheeks, and is wiry or braided looking, it reveals a face which is almost neanderthal-like and definitely not just a short human.

that was my goal. The whole idea about those dwarves was that they're not those usual small dudes with moustaches. I gave them tall hats that implied they were bigger overall; the idea followed the fear of being really small. I still wanted to stick to sapkowski's idea of a dwarf, but still maintaining that unique feel of a dwarf itself. Dwarves without facial hair? bring it on.

I love this one more than anything. Makes me laugh, makes me smile with pleasure, makes me jealous that I can do the same.
Any idea of how long this kind of art takes to do. Pencil + ink? But please, don't tell me 15 minutes as it'll make cry of despair, being myself slow as hell.

that was about a day of work from a empty piece of paper to the finished inking. That piece was made for an exhibition if i remember corectly for Sapkowski and the witcher saga in general, held in Nidzica a couple of years ago

Thanks for the information. Now I understand better and may be more successful managing the frustration ^^
(It's a shame though that we can't edit our own comments. My previous posts are full of orthographic mistakes that I didn't notice in the 1st place. Sorry for that, even if I believe you saw them all and weren't mistaken about the meaning of the sentence.)

the only thing i would say as a word of advice is : take your time. If you need a day to finish a piece do so. Don't rush it.
And I don't really care about the grammar aslong as we understand eachother. I'm not an eagle myself when it comes to english.
