Description
Everyone makes mistakes, but not everyone will work to fix them- Casey RobertMary was sitting, having a nice cup of tea when her door bell rang. Her being in her 70's, she was very calm and slow to respond to the ringing. She carefully sat up and shuffled towards the door. She opened the door to find a strange sight; a beautiful woman in a long white wedding gown with tears and makeup running down her face. In the most polite way she could, she asked the young woman how she could help her.
"Yes, actually, you can. I need to know where Mike is now" The bride asked as she choked back her tears. She wiped her face, but attempted to place a smile on her face. Mary escorted the young lady inside and offered tea and Kleenex. The bride wiped of all the makeup she could with the Kleenex, but refused the tea.
"Why do you need to know where my son is?" Mary asked as she sat down next to the bride. Tears slowly rolled down her face before she found the strength to speak. Her voice was cracked and full of pain.
"Mary, I made a huge mistake. I don't know if you remember me, but Mike and I were together a few years ago. I left him because one of my former boyfriends came back in the picture and I thought I loved them. Then I almost married them today, but I realized my mistake wasn't marrying this guy, it was leaving the man I truly love"
Mary was taken back. She remembered her. She also remembered how broken they both were when they broke up. Mike never stuck with anyone longer than a few weeks to a month. And now the woman he truly loves just ran away from her own wedding just to see him.
"Julie, Mike has moved to Newfoundland" The bride began crying once again, longing to be with him. Mary lifted Julie's head an looked her right in the eye. She smiled.
"Yes, he did. But, fate must be in your favour. Mike is down visiting, he just arrived last night. He's upstairs, in his old room" Julie embraced the older woman and ran towards the stairs, but not before turning around and thanking her.
She slowly began walking up the stairs, remembering all the times her and Mike ran up those steps together, laughing. She reached the top and immediately saw his bedroom door. Her heart started beating fast, slowly reaching for the handle. She softly knocked and waited for a reply.
"What do you want?" A male's voice said in a slightly depressed tone. She took a deep breath before opening the door and peering inside. She steps beyond the door and placed her entire body inside the room as she located Mike's face. He turned his face from the television in front of him and his eye grew big. He turned off the TV without averting his eyes. He stood up and stepped towards her.
"Julie? Is-is that really you?" A smile appeared across his face as he was standing in front of the woman he loved.
"Yes Mike, it is. In all my white glory" She played with her dress as she spoke. Her voice chocked a little.
"Julie, why are you here? Shouldn't you be at your wedding?" Mike spoke with a hint of hate in his voice. It was no secret that he hated George for stealing his love from him. She wiped her face, took a deep breath and unloaded all her feelings.
"Mike, I made a mistake. Not by almost marrying George, but by leaving you. I can't believe it took me this long to realize that I never loved George the way I love you. George hurt me and I still went back to him, you never hurt me once. I was happiest with you. I was sitting doing my makeup when I remembered you saying that I was beautiful without it, that's when it all fell down. I ran, I ran from my own wedding, just praying that there was even a slight chance you still wanted me and that you were still here-"
Mike grabbed her face and kissed her with such a strong passion that they both started crying. Mike moved his hands from her face to her waist and pulled her against him. She placed her arms around his neck as they continued to kiss. As they broke apart, Mike brushed her face with his hand.
"Julie, I haven't stopped thinking about you since we broke up. I am so madly in love with you I can hardly stand it. I need you in my life. I don't care what we have to do; I am taking you back to Newfoundland with me. We'll grow old together and watch our children grow and forever love each other. As long as I have you, I am complete"
Julie ripped off her veil and shoes and through them across the room. She then nuzzled into his arms, wrapping her arms around his waist. She stated that nothing would ever come between them again. She made a big mistake, but she finally fixed it.
