Description
Ready trying to further my understanding of Lightwave material option, like using weight maps, procedurals and gradients to get the right effect. This was lit with an hdr environment and one area light, everything is modelled geometry (ie no liquid dynamics) and incidence angle gradients were used on the mug shader to reduce all over reflection as well as weight maps used to effect transparency on the liquid splash. I also used Lightwave rendered for a change allowing 32bit export as well as being able to comp in depth of field with the exported depth map.Related content

very nice render, I like the subtle DOF, only thing that could make it better I think is some slight motion blur on the sugar cubes

Good call, makes me want to learn what "motion buffers" do, as I swear they can be used for added motion blur in a compositing app.

Hey good man. This is a great study(the coffee cup, teapot) to learn on. We all have to do this at some time when you learn 3D.
