Please feel free to visit my site: 2D ForeverHas it already been a year since Mirror's Edge came out? It randomly popped into my mind and I just had to draw Faith. While I can't confess to being a huge fan of the game (the demo will suffice!), I love the protagonist, Faith. In my books this is a well made character.
One of the main reasons for liking her so is that she's a female lead without looking or acting anything like Lara Croft. So much so in fact, one artist decided to make a more attractive, curvier (read: bigger boobs) version. This really split the internet, but I'm happily in the camp of the original Faith. I always like to think imperfections is what makes a person, not some anime doll.
So, this is my homage to Faith, asian eyes, smaller boobs, muscles and all. Regarding the picture itself, I had so much fun with this. I forgot how much fun it can be to draw with chunky outlines too! I went through quite a few different poses trying to get the punch right. I ended up with this one as I liked how it seemed a bit over the top, and aided the excuse to make a slightly distorted face!

You're second paragraph about not being portrayed as a ''anime doll'', I agree with very much so. We need more of this in the gaming indrustry.
With that said, I didn't appreciate you bashing Lara like that. Sure, her curvy apparence was unneeded, but sadly, it is what it is. Plus, Faith ''not acting like Lara''? In what way do you mean that? Faith, despite her solid apparence, had zero character and personality. Unlike Lara. So...yeah, I dunno what you were going on about. Plus, you praise different female characters not looking sexyalized, yet i;ve seen plenty of artwork of Chun-Li and Cammy in you're gallery, two main offenders in that catergory.

Apologies if anything offended you, it's just some opinion. My point was that Faith was perfect as she was, and that I like Lara, Chun-li, etc as they are too.

If so, that's unintentional. I wasn't going to go down the racist route of yellow skin or any of that crap, it's more in the subtleties of her eyes.

This piece has shown a tremendious amount of your skills and how you can use a wide variety of styles to make your work. With this one, you've expressed an interesting mixture between cell shading and a comic book format where a large level of hues and brush work is required. I feel that with this format works a great deal in the energy of the character and overall atmosphere of the game itself.
The design of the character is good and the fighting pose is structured and feels natural. It gives off the energy the character has and the situation that she might be in. Though it might have been nice to see a wide angle shot to express more of what is going on, but with what is here it is still strong.

Thank you! Your last point got me thinking though - I intentionally cropped it tight, so it was more focused on her face and punch without the need to show anything else (looking at it now it could of been cropped better).
Not quite sure how I would of changed it to fit the guy being punched in though... Hmm.. food for thought at least
