I gotta say, the mainstream is total shit, but a few of the lesser known/indie stuff is pretty good. .....
Of course, I'm a total metalhead, so the only part of hiphop i really pay attention to is the drum beat, I figure there might be some out there I can use....haven't found anything yet though.

Not all producers sample drum loops. As a matter of fact, it actually the melody that get sampled as it is.
Most producers chop up the sounds to create their pattern.
