Description
This is a redone version of my 'Blade in the Snow render. I have made some improvements to the texture and also the colour balance, as well as adding some snow fall for depth and movement.Made and rendered using 3Ds Max and then compiled in Photoshop.
Any advice or comments would be appreciated

This is so cool! Did you design the blade yourself or have you been inspired by something? :3

Very nice work, & kudos on the comp too!
But the idea of physics not playing a part of a visually stunning realistic piece throws me off, so if you really wanted to make a sound impression with this artwork - you might put a stump and/or boulder under the handle for it to rest on, and to complete the realism you might add a sharpened, slightly chipped edge to the bottom (possibly even with minor dried blood stains). Maybe even with it's scabbard beside it, or lying in the snow!

Thanks for your comment I know exactly what you mean
no way the snow could hold that sort of weight. I may revisit this at some point and add an extra diffuse and specular map for the blood. Do you think I should add a mask to hide the bump under the blood, or do you think itll be more realistic to have it flowing into the scratches on the blade?
Thanks again

It is your work, as is your preference whether fresh or 'dried blended together (with underlying bump +minimal blood specular)' might produce the highest detailed effect.
Yeah, fresh blood would only need a very modest blend mask with a stronger specular, and I'm sure you know your tool set, but for battle worn weapons - a small amount of grunge mixed in usually helps a lot with the realism.
