“Heehee there it is! That’s a lovely tail you’re getting there!” I heard Arctic say. As he said that I felt a tingling in my spine. I felt it tingle and twitch and then it felt as if it were stretching out from my body. It hurt, but it was a bit of a different sensation too. Was it a tail?... Was it really my tail?...

“You’re certainly coming along nicely! That tail is just the mark of things to come…” Arctic said. I couldn’t see it, but I felt the tail. The sensations were interfering with me thinking straight again. I couldn’t speak clearly or say much.

“T-tail? Wha…” I uttered out. My words were interrupted with a loud crack in my back. I felt like screaming out in pain, but all I could mutter out were some groans.

“Along with that comes some spinal changes,” Arctic said with perfect timing. My back hurt, but as the pain eased it felt different to me. Maybe Arctic was right and maybe my back was shifting to accommodate a new form. I felt so weak, but even if I had the strength I didn’t think I could stand up. The thought came to me that I would be only on all fours from now on. This was really happening…

I felt my tail continue to grow out far past what I could even imagine. How long was it going to even be? It felt so strange yet it was starting to feel normal to me to have this new appendage. I could feel all the sensations as it continued to grow and as fur grew over it. I could even feel myself start to move it.

“Ah there we go. You’re becoming nice and foxy,” Arctic said. Even though I knew what was happening in the back of my mind, Arctic’s words seemed to confirm the reality of everything: I was turning into a fox.

“You’re a fox…” I thought I heard those words. I didn’t think Arctic said it, and I didn’t say it, but I felt like I heard a voice. “Become the animal inside of you…”
