Description
He stood there with barely any energy left. He staggered. I knew it would be a little longer till he fell unconscious.

“Ah, yes! There we go! Such a nice fox,” I said as I watched him collapse to the ground completely exhausted from the intense transformation.
Watching someone transform is always an interesting experience. Given my ability I had witnessed numerous transformations before my eyes. There would always be the rush of emotions which I could generally predict knowing the person and their situation, but this was different. I wondered about Crash. I knew that he was one that had an interest in transformation yet I wondered why he expressed such fear and sadness during his change. I would have thought he would have been happy. Perhaps it was the surprise or shock. Perhaps it wasn’t what he had expected. Perhaps it was something else. Perhaps it was that fear of losing himself, or maybe deeper than that. Maybe he was worried he would never have the opportunity to meet his friend, the real Arctic. I thought about the things Crash said, the fears and doubts he expressed. His last words ran through my mind: “I just hope you won’t forget about me.” I paused and wondered if I had done something bad.

I looked at the fox that was just a human not too long ago. I glanced down next to him and saw his glasses. Those were the only evidence of him ever once being a human. I had removed and taken care of his clothes, but I stared a bit more at his glasses. I wondered if I should remove them too. I don’t know why, but I gazed at them. I don’t know why, but deep down I wanted the real Crash to still be here. I realized that I had hoped that Crash held on to himself or to that friendship he felt so important. I had hoped he didn’t let go.

I looked at the fox. I stared at him for a moment, and in that instant I knew how much Crash cared for his friend. I knew that despite his physical change, he was still Crash. I smiled at the thought.

“I’ll just leave this little note here heehee,” I said and left a written note that read, “Got a friend for you~”

“I must leave now. He should be arriving soon,” I thought. I knew that he was on his way back home, and that would be back shortly. I left the fox that was once the human, Crash. I left quickly and quietly without a trace as if I had never been there.
