good thing it was just etho, can you imagine what chlorine, or other of 100 dangerous chemicals the RRs haul could've done?

According to the NTSB, it was a fractured rail. The report summary can be found here: [link]

thats messed up, if I'm thinking right the ethanol is pretty harmless to the environment, but this still sucks

Depending on whats been done to it, ethanol is basically the alcohol in beer...

I didn't know it was in beer, but I did understand it to be relatively safe and harmless to the environment

well, mostly harmless.

like most chemicals it depends on the concentration. Though it is one of the lower chemicals to worry about.

see sections, 10, 11 and 12 in that link.

ok well then it killed a few hundred fish and lots of water borne microbes, but only in the immediate contact area, and 3 or 4 days worth of dilution drift area, not so bad on the whole, a lot less harmful and a lot less clean up then the Exxon spill, besides we have to many microbes in our rivers any way, or is it to many microbial brainless ass heads in our government, ah same difference, we still need to get rid of them, maybe we should spill ethanol on congress ... lol

well yeah. like i said mostly harmless. lot easier on the environment than most chemicals.

I think congress is more of a virus, and viruses can't be killed. We can become immune, viruses go dormant...
