I agree that it is quite interesting!

Your use of the fisheye lens si definitely interesting - seems more about the composition of the piece than just cramming "more stuff" into the frame. Β Or a way to provide an alternate perspective / say something specific. Β Very interesting.

I do like to think that I think about the composition of the piece, and how the fisheye effect can add more to the piece. Having said that, I am also guilty of using the fisheye just to provide an alternate perspective.
Thank you very much though!

Alternate perspectives are also healthy!

Yes! Perhaps not all the time, but definitely worth a consideration most of the time.

And sometimes just worthwhile to experiment with a technique, too.
Whatever the plan was here, it works for me in the end.

That is very true. I do believe in experimenting where art is concerned. It could lead to progress.
Indeed! That sounds like a great one!

Or if not progress, at least learning!

I like to think we are always learning! Or, certainly, we should be?

That is what I hope!

Some days that seems tiring, I admit - but rewarding most of the time.

Stunning curves created by mankind, like a ladder to the sky, with a few twists & turns thrown in

Indeed! I do think that mankind aims to reach for the sky with structures like these.
It'd be quite a ride to go down it.

Those are some pretty imposing buildings
And the one at left looks strangely paper-thin.

Cities have a lot of skyscrapers.
Yeah, I don't think it was paper thin, but maybe the camera just captured it that way.

I too like the diagonal lines, it adds an exaggerated perspective and makes it seem more intense in a way. The colors in the sky are great too, it kind of shows a balance between what is nature and what's man-made

Yes, I see where you are coming from!
Thank you very much! It is an interesting contrast between man and nature.

That diagonal compositional line that is so often in your works is present here too (going from the bottom left corner to the top right) - but I think the lines going counter to it really bring this out, and give it a futuristic feel. Maybe even dystopian (with the blue tone)? Really nice use of the fish-eye yo Β

Yeah, I think I am a big fan of that.
Indeed! I did type in futurustic in the tags.
Thank you!
Yeah, it was done using an older fisheye that I am intending to sell. I bought the newer fisheye a year or so after that.
2011 is pretty old.

Subconsciously, what do you think it is that draws you to long sweeping diagonal lines?
I did type in futurustic in the tags.
THINK SINKS!
You haven't sold that fisheye yet?
π: 0 β©: 1
3wyl In reply to Kamal-Q [2014-09-09 10:54:02 +0000 UTC]
I wouldn't know what my subconscious thinks. Perhaps the long, sweeping diagonal lines carry a sense of elegance or freedom or something that is particularly attractive about it.
I haven't sold my lenses yet, no. I do want to sell them before I come to the US.

Kamal-Q In reply to 3wyl [2014-09-09 23:22:33 +0000 UTC]
That's why you should meditate - to draw out these subconscious drives and to understand and control them Though, I think you've hit a part of the reason there - the longer line is freer than the one confined to a short distanceΒ Β
π: 0 β©: 1
3wyl In reply to Kamal-Q [2014-09-10 08:58:17 +0000 UTC]
No time to meditate.
What if those subconscious drives appear in my dreams?
Yes, exactly! There is a certain rollercoaster feel to it.

Psshhh have to make time to meditate I bet they do appear in your dreams

Many things appear in my dreams.
You should try a virtual one.

Kamal-Q In reply to 3wyl [2014-09-13 11:12:25 +0000 UTC]
I do wonder if getting on a virtual rollercoaster would result in the same sort of queasiness (I imagine it will) - my theory is that since I'm trying to look at everything (like the trees, the horizon, other rides in the park) I get dizzier than those that just close their eyes on the ride.

3wyl In reply to Kamal-Q [2014-09-13 18:14:59 +0000 UTC]

Kamal-Q In reply to 3wyl [2014-09-14 00:31:27 +0000 UTC]
No, eyes wide open yo - it was weird - I always wanted to see everything, and I honed on details quite a distance away

3wyl In reply to Kamal-Q [2014-09-14 09:39:08 +0000 UTC]
Yeah.. perhaps you should try doing it with eyes closed to see if that's any better. It's a shame you didn't do that at least once.
