3D or 2D, I found my self spending most of time thinking what to do instead of actually doing.

I guess that goes for most artists, some people call it block, but they are wrong.

Impressive - looks like an advertisement sequence for the Space Navy's pride and joy.

'Big guns never tire.'Β
That looks top notch as always.Β  Other then the two big turrets, are there any secondary weapons?Β  Like a missile bay to rain on some Corvettes parade?

Capital ships that can hurt other Caps and not worry so much about strike craft.Β  Always so much fun.Β  Cataclysm I remember you.

I was not indented to design a all encompassing war ship XD because such thing is not possible, and is kind boring. I think HW in general does not utilize strike craft too much, in most situations you can just build capital ship and win, kind like in Red alert. Personally I think Cataclysm is a better balanced game of the series, have you played HW 1 and 2?

Yes I have and even got the Special Gearbox Edition Rerelease.Β  I don't regret what I have done but looking back it have been economically smarter to just get the normal games again.Β  "But I had the money and it is cool."Β  Argument still wins out more often then it most likely should at my age.Β

You preordered the special edition. I would like it come with a model of BC instead. I brought it on steam, it was impressive to play that game again. The only problem is Cataclysm did not get remade, what a shame. Long ago I brought the original in box, it had the best manual ever I still have that book. I never buy special edition or merchandise, they just don't seem worth to me.

Cata was such a great game, I wish Gearbox could of gotten the rights for it as well.Β  They reason I got it is because I am big in to mini gaming and seeing that nicely pre-painted Mothership...Β  And Soundtrack as well.Β  I couldn't help my self since it wouldn't brake the bank and there was just nothing else I was even remotely interested to use that money on.Β  I like holding things, to feel their weight of items makes them feel...mine.Β  Where as with games I just get on Steam they just lack that connection of ownership.Β  Yes I have issues that I freely admit to.

I would ordered that box if it came with a physical copy, yes the accessory items are very nice, but for a collector edition, you don't get a game disk just felt not right. I mean you pay for all the good stuff and in the end you still required to download the game? Come on, its not called collector edition for no reason. BTW the mothership model is very good, but I would prefer it to be the BC XD imagine have laser pointer for the ion cannon.

Yes I get what you mean for feeling physical, its great if you have them, but they can also be a burden somehow. I mean to buy it means to keep it, this is why I quit on building model kits, the thing just take up too much space and must handled with care. If they are 3D model sit on a drive, I can carry all of them on a USB XD. If I have property that sit there for like 100 years I may consider to collect something XD.

In the end the Mothership was the right choice since it is the most iconic Ship for both games.Β  A Battle Cruiser should have been cool but its from one game.Β  I agreed that having a physical copy of the game would have been best since then you could play it off line.Β  I don't regret the buy.Β
With pictures and stuff that you don't have to box up is nice.Β  I moved around enough to know that its a great thing.

I think you have a point, the mothership does repercent the franchise more, in that case I hope to open the construction bay and see things light up, would be cool if you can display the glowing mothership with open hatch XD

I learned the advantage of nonphysical when I was dealing with limitation of lego, until I discovered I don't really need plastic at all, my design was much better.

BTW It was a shame they did not remaster Cataclysm, I consider it to be best of the series.

It just for some reason Cata was made and IP held by a different company.Β  There must have been so idea with that I think didn't work well so it was only Cata.

I love mini wargames so I am just always love getting new models.Β  Painting comes around, eventually.Β Β Β  And since there are enough companies out there that make mini cases so transport and sorting is not all too hard.

I heard the original studio did not like Cataclysm, they do not intent to include it as part of canon series. Copy right issue maybe another factor. I hope Cata can make a spin off series just like what Red alert did. One thing I like most about Cata was the atmosphere, its like they made a horror comedy, very much resemble the feeling from Yuri's revenge and part ofΒ Castlevania.

I once talked to a guy who likes to collect Warhammer40k, he told me half of the "fun" is on transportation. And I was...Β Β

spacewolflord In reply to 4-X-S [2015-09-01 16:52:34 +0000 UTC]

That would have been awesome if they made more Cata but at this point I say its not likely.Β

And transporting minis are easy if you just put down money to get proper cases and set them up right.Β  I have seen people send large amount of minis, get them looking fancy and then transport them in shoe boxes...Β  You have no idea how much that upsets me.Β  Specially if people with far better painting skills then I does this.Β  Mainly because I don't have the money to waste on replacing broken beyond repair minis.Β  So I save my money and do things proper unlike some heathens.Β  You just got to take proper care of your stuff.

What a shame, Cata was my fav in the homeworld universe.

The most difficult things to take care in my experience, are those ship models, too many delicated thin object sticking out, most of them break after transportation. Air plane are much easier only if you never build that landing gear, those thing snaps easily. The most easily preserved model are cars, those thing fit in a box nicely, and is structurally robust. Gundam I have a few, they are mostly movable, does not use glue often, have parts can be dissembled, so transport is not a big deal. The down sides you can lose parts if not careful.
