Description I was originally planning on trying out Fedora, but I'd only downloaded CD1 and discovered that CD2 was also required for a desktop install.

I was all in the desktop Linux mode, so I just went ahead and installed Debian It's kinda plain, but it looks good. Very stable and fast

how long did it take you to get/compile firefox?

i got it on freebsd, and it took about 3 hours to get, and 1.5 hours to compile.

if you like speed, you should try the fluxbox wm, it's way faster than gnome.

I don't like fluxbox.

I didn't compile it, downloaded some binaries from MozillaZine. The Debian binary packages were segfaulting in the post-install phase, and thus didn't work properly.
