Description Sitting at the gate to No Return,
I wonder if this is the real gateway.
I've been here before,
Once a very long time ago.
I wonder if this could really lead me to No Return.
A song plays over and over again in my head.
The words are soft.
To most, they are nothing.
To me, they mean everything.
What could I do?
Turn around? Give up?
What would I do?
Carry on? Push forward?
When the door was opened to me,
I knew there was a choice to be made.
I could follow everyone else and turn away,
Or I could step through the door frame.
Just one step,
Past oblivion,
Past the land of infinity,
Past the end of the world,
All the way to No Return.
What would I choose?
It was a very difficult decision.
I had a heavy heart with me,
And a boat load of troubles behind me.
If I stepped through,
How long could I hold out?
If I turned back,
How far would I get before I would be back at the door again?
Either way I stepped,
No Return would always be waiting.
I could take a step towards the door,
Or I could hold back.
The door would be closing soon.
If it closed,
I would be stuck outside,
Waiting for it to open once again.
I could see the light drawing me to the door,
But I could see the safety of the shadows behind me.
Which would I choose?
Would I stay outside the door forever,
Or would I take a step inside?
It was my choice,
But I didn't feel like mine.
It felt like I was too small to make such a big decision.
But then the song came back to me,
And the notes flooded in.
They came from the open doorway.
They were pointing home.
They showed me a vision of the past.
They showed me what the shadows were like.
They showed me where the light leads.
They showed me how my life could be.
I felt the song pulsating from the door.
I could hear it calling to me.
The words came to me.
I stepped into No Return.
