Description
(or perhaps: "Doctor off her rocker"...?) ยฆ3cFinally, FINALLY finished the cover art for Issue Five of SSnPP ...!
Doc's probably my favorite character (so far) in the comic to draw. She's comprised almost entirely of sweeps and arcs...! XD;;;
Issue 5 will be on sale in book form starting *this* weekend (Mother's Day weekend even~) at the Gaslight Gathering in San Diego.
HOPE TO SEE YOU THAR!

That globe is ama~zing. Did you actually draw the texture yourself or stock? And I'm guessing that you sphere-ized it?
Indistinct light sources

It's a texture, but I specifically used a T-O map from the 1500s to class things up.
When I took this to print, the light source on the far right was completely cropped off. :<

As I try! ;;
Originally wanted a much gentler lighting scenario but, it being a comic, I wanted to do be a ~bit~ bolder...

It is a cover; therefore ya gotta be dramatic, or over the top melodramatic, depending on..............

Doc's a rockin, yer sock :3
ah that wasn't right XD
Pretty colors, the glow from the jars and the silhouettes in them immediately sets the tone :> plus those are really classy windows. What I'd do to stare out of them heheh *___*

Quite the Knickerbocker rocker she is~! /o/
Thanks; I was all over the place with what kind of tone I wanted to set, but time was a-wastin' so I just doubly committed to this lighting setup. ;
Just what IS she mixing anyway...? ยค๏ฟฝ____ยค๏ฟฝ

Are you sure? The power and gas are linked up oppositely, so I can never remember if lights-on means safe or unsafe ...

Funny thing about analog-era tech is there were no set rules on what meant and what meant XD

Is it any better in the digital age?
Thanks again for the commissions by the way. My mind is still wandering, wondering just what Hiromi is up to.

Well now people just need to be able to tell the difference between a warning that they have a virus and a fake warning that's going to ask you to download protective software ...which turns out to be the virus itself. (Hint people: the one that uses size 48 font with twenty exclamation marks is probably the fake one.)
...strap-on store. Or lemonade stand. Either or. XD

You know my disturbing and disgusting mind too well. Much much too well.
(Takao wouldn't be the grumpy if he'd been promised lemonade.)

Good gracious. I would not want this woman as an enemy.
I really love the textures. Especially on those curtains. I mean, wow. And man, the jars and the test tube and the syringe gun. The atmosphere is so spooky~
Can't help thinking that the thing near Doc's head is some kind of mechanised hairbrush. XD
Amazing work!

I originally thought about making it more of a daytime scene with soft dapple lighting coming in the window ...but what's the fun in that. ;
Just as long as you set it "low" it can't hurt you...!
Thank ya~!

Doc's kind of gone beyond the soft dapple lighting. xDD;;

Y-yeah, pretty much. +v+;;;
(i feel like as soon as i introduce any new secondary characters, readers will immediately mistrust him/her...) XD;

kittykittyhunter In reply to 47ness [2012-05-09 23:58:30 +0000 UTC]
It depends on how that character is introduced, I think. XD But hey, secondary characters are fun! Providing that you don't introduce 50 at once.

47ness In reply to kittykittyhunter [2012-05-10 05:00:37 +0000 UTC]
Yeah... I'll make up for the small amount of characters by giving them BIG personalities! XD
If there's one thing I've learned about comics, introducing characters via big full-page spreads, with their name being frequently mentioned, is the best way to endear them to the readers (lest they be forgotten by the next page!) :U
