Man i just love that first panel though.....Anyway,what is up with Mario's breathing patterns?
He can breathe underwater in every 2d game but not in most 3d games (cause in super mario 3d land you can breathe underwater)
oh poor nintendo logic,actually....

And then in Mario Kart 7 and 3D World, the playable characters hold their breath, but can somehow do so infinitely.

The "Bros" and "World/Land" games he's a fish. Others, he's an airbreather. Nintendo needs to make up it's mind.

Maybe in Super Mario Galaxy, the water is different in the cosmos and it slowly sucks Mario's oxygen out. And in Mario Bros U, it's like the normal water he can hold his breath under?
