Rainbows and Lollipops

-Laughing Jack X Reader-

You laid on your bed and stared blankly at the ceiling. This just wasn't your week...or Kai's. You could feel the tears running down the sides of your face. You knew you woul'd find him though. That insane murderer would hunt him down and bring him back to life if he had to. Besides, now that you think about it, Kai would never let his death be brought upon him by a clown. A clown with no taste in style at that. You chuckled at you thoughts, though, from the back of your head, you swore you could hear a familiar tune. Ah, yes. It was one of those children songs you used to sing all creepily to get people to stop talking to you. Sometimes, you just didn't want to be bothered by people. I can't blame you, people suck. Wait. did the narrator just enter your thoughts? Isn't this breaking the fourth wall?! Oh well. Not like you can do anything about it.

Anyway, you start to hum to the tune. Then, you realize that the tune isn't in your head, but came through your window. you opened up your blinds and saw a marvelous looking circus. You gazed at the sight in awe. The lights and bright colors made the night feel...warm. Attracted to the feeling, you thought about walking there. In that exact moment you found yourself in front of the circus. It was so sudden. Realizing that you must have fell asleep and was now dreaming, you decided to wander into the circus. Inside the large tent, you could see children in the rows of seats that circled the stage. The children were deformed, but didn't seem to be in pain. Still, you found it quite unsettling. You stared at the ring, where a tall man wearing bright colors stood. He had cherry red hair and an orange and yellow striped, cone-like nose. He seemed familiar, but his cheeriness made you feel just as happy.
"Ah, the show was about to start," the clown spoke as he looked up.

He looked straight up at you, holding you in an awkward situation as you both stared at each other...eye-to-eye...for the longest time. Get yourself together! You jumped as the narrator spoke. It seemed that you were the only one that could hear the voice. You broke the staring contest and looked to the side, slightly blushing.
"Stupid fourth wall breaker..." you whispered. you know I CAN HEAR YOU.

You could hear the clown snicker, which only made you blush even more. You looked back at the ring when the sound of two claps entered your ears. Everything went dark. This scared you, you hated the dark. You hated being IN the dark. The lights came on again in a short amount of time, though it wasn't as cheery now. The lights, the tent, even the clown shown itself in blacks, greys, and whites. Now you remembered why he seemed so familiar. It was HIM. The clown from the store...who had Kai's phone...

You watched as he climbed over the rows of seats to get to you. You, to say the least, was too in shock to move.
"My name," he saw the fear in your face and tried to warm up the atmosphere, "is Laughing Jack."

You could tell you looked scared. You tried to play it off and smirked.
"For someone who's called Laughing Jack...you don't seem to laugh a lot."
"Heh?! HAHA I laugh all the time!" He smiled warmly.

This, for some reason, made your heart skip a beat. Though, you felt like your normal self again and, even if it is a dream, you needed to find some answers.
"What'd you do with Kai?" you didn't plan on beating around the bush.
"What?" Jack was taken back by your serious expression.
"Where is Kai?!"
"I don't-"
"You had his phone though..."
"...you mean this?" he took out my-I mean Kai's phone and handed it to you.
"Did you...kill him?"
"I haven't killed anybody in the past few weeks..."
"So you do murder people!"
"Besides, I only have the phone because it was laying on the ground outside my shop. I found your number in it and messaged you to go there..."

Wait how'd he know it was your number. You've never even told him your name before!
"I've been watching you ever since I came to this town. You were so beautiful...I had to find out who you were! So please...don't be afraid of me."

That's so sweet...and creepy. You ignored my comment and thought things through. If he didn't know where Kai was, then that means you might have put Jack's life in danger. Or Jeff's, but you didn't care if HE died.
"Jeff might be coming after you," you bluntly stated.
"I know."
"You know?"
"He came the other day trying to kill me. All I wanted to do was play a game!" He smiled creepily and laughed. Loud.

You realized that Jeff was the one who wrecked the shop. That came to you as a relief to be honest. That meant Kai was safe.
"Can you visit me tomorrow?" The clown broke you train of thought.
"Tomorrow?" you surroundings started to fade away, "Yeah, sure."

You woke up with a lollipop laying next to your face on your bed. Fan-fucking-tastic.
You got ready for school and left. Of course, no one there to pick you up. That was to be expected though. Kai was the only one who visited your house in the morning, but he...was missing.
