So, I heard that tomorrow is the last day of classic DeviantART. And though I did post a protest deviation and participated in the Sound of Silence movement, for the most part, I've decided to give this situation a bit more thought and I realized that it would be best to have a more neutral look on the situation and have been wanting to share these new thoughts of mine. So, better late than never. I've come to accept that websites change all the time for better or for worse. And it's clear that the DA staff and WIX want to continue to make changes to the site as time goes on. And whether we like it or not, some things are out of our control. It may not be fair, and we may not like it, but it's the truth. And as for me, as much as I would like the old to stay I've come to accept DeviantArt's fate. But you know what? Everyone's only been focusing on the negative side of this situation, but now I think it's time to look on the bright side of things. I've tried eclipse and there are a few things I like about it. Such as the classic DA theme! I think it's a cool way to pay tribute to the original site! And the live notifications, it always felt tedious not getting notified as soon as I get a comment or fave on a picture but I'm glad the change is being made. And, if I ever get a core membership again I look forward to posting videos here since I'm not doing YouTube anymore. Finally, the new site will run on HTML code instead of Flash, and I'm sure everyone knows that Adobe announced they'll no longer support flash player on most browsers. So it's not a total loss if the site switches to eclipse permanently because if it continued to run on flash then the site would die entirely! All in all, to quote a comment I left on this post. "At least we'll be all in this together. DA may be getting a new coat of paint, but in the end, it will still be the same at heart. You know why? Because I believe that, it's not just the design or the features that make the site. It's the community and the people who log on every day to interact with each other and share their ideas. We, the artists are the heart of DA. And it makes me sad that some people want to leave because, without the heart.....then DA is truly gone". Well, this is all I had to say, please feel free to put your opinion in the comments. Not to start a riot over unpopular opinions, but a civil conversation with fellow users.
