Lookin' good!
"Is good at breathing", very useful skill. "Mark" is a good name, too. There's a bit of a double meaning there since "mark" can be slang for the victim of a scam or robbery or whatever and I figure he'll be getting into that sort of trouble fairly often...

If there's anything to point out from a refsheet standpoint, maybe his height and weight so anyone that wants to draw him would know how big he should be in comparison to other characters and objects. That, and maybe what sort of clothes he wears when he's not the victim of a robbery or something.

Thanks
Not knowing how to breathe is one of the only ways to really fail at life.

Yeah! I forgot about that! i wanted to focus on fur patterns and forgot that it may be a good idea to put on some clothes at some point, other than just a cap

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

LordDominic In reply to 61021376 [2015-11-06 18:16:05 +0000 UTC]

The ability to breathe actually puts him far ahead of many of my characters, it seems.

Focusing on fur patterns is very important, and it's a great excuse to draw characters in their underwear, trust me.
"Oh, they're in their undies because I wanted to show off their fur pattern and physique."
Clothes are important too, unless he's the sort to just wear basic stuff or not have a particular style or favorite outfit. The hat is cute, makes me think of those cliche gay guys you see on TV sometimes. I could see that sort of thing getting him into some awkward situations in certain parts of town. He could wind up getting hit on, or worse.

Hah. Yea, and sure enough they also have awesome complicated design on their butt, who knows?

For sure wearing only the hat gives that vibe, he should be fine if he can keep on his clothes... at least hey, it'sĀ  not leather.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

LordDominic In reply to 61021376 [2015-11-08 13:52:03 +0000 UTC]

Ah, his hat is more of a military style, it seems. Is that what you had in mind? Is he a military guy, or just some sort of fan of that sort of stuff? I kinda feel bad bombarding you with questions about this one particular character but hey, that just means he's interesting enough to actually get people curious about him.

61021376 In reply to LordDominic [2015-11-08 18:01:19 +0000 UTC]

Hey i'm happy you take interest in my character!
it's probably an interest in military stuff. Those are cool stuff. I own a similar cap as well

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

LordDominic In reply to 61021376 [2015-11-09 01:20:43 +0000 UTC]

One of the good things about developing recurring characters is that people will come to know them and maybe even be interested in them. One-off characters are fun to draw but having a couple that show up consistently is a good idea since people will come to associate those characters with you and look forward to seeing more art featuring the ones they like. It's a good way to get out of drawing only fetish art and still get attention from the masses, too.

The "military surplus" look could work, I can almost see his normal outfit being a plain t-shirt, some sort of military jacket, and generic pants like infantrymen might wear. I might have to postpone underwear-related silliness when drawing him in favor of drawing the sort of outfit I'm envisioning.

61021376 In reply to LordDominic [2015-11-09 20:36:50 +0000 UTC]

I've noticed that! still dont understand why I'm still struggling for developing good characters..

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

LordDominic In reply to 61021376 [2015-11-10 06:20:34 +0000 UTC]

Character design is just something that comes to me naturally so it's hard to explain. As I draw a character, if I like their visual design or something else about them, I'll formulate their personality as I draw. So, the first thing to do would be to find a couple characters whose looks you like and maybe develop them a bit.

You've tried already with a couple, now it's just an issue of drawing them more often and depicting more aspects of their lives. How do they fit into the world you've created? What is their role there? What sort of traits would you find interesting in such a character? Stuff like that. The characters need to interest you and work with what you like to draw. Your feminist liger and her boyfriend, your gay dog with the red hair, Felix, I think you had a blue dog that you drew a couple times already, this character here... there's a good start. Maybe you need some sort of sleazy government official and a couple soldiers or police officers, too.

61021376 In reply to LordDominic [2015-11-10 18:20:27 +0000 UTC]

ah yeah, and having them interact with each others is the funniest thing ever. Plus it's another way to develop them...
a sleazy Gman is a good idea! there's a lot of stupid things that can happen with them. Or stupid things we sometimes wish would///Ā
not really

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

LordDominic In reply to 61021376 [2015-11-11 15:08:00 +0000 UTC]

Of course interactions would be the most fun once you get their personalities and looks figured out. Since Felix works in an office, your feminist would consider him part of The Patriarchy and his very existence is triggering and oppressive, and if I remember the red-haired dog is some sort of delivery boy, that's a great way to get him into awkward situations. Imagine going to deliver something only to stumble upon a crime in progress, a monster, or one of those bondage sessions you draw every so often. It makes me think of those cliche porno parodies where it's a guy delivering a pizza and the woman says "I don't have any money, is there another way I can pay for this?", imagine him trying to make an actual delivery and somehow stumbling into a porno shoot in progress where they are expecting one of the actors to be portraying a delivery boy.

This fursona, though, I don't know enough about him to suggest his role in all of this. His profession, where he lives, stuff like that. As it stands he seems like an average guy in this crazy world of yours, which could actually work well.

Sleazy officials seem right up your alley, it makes me think of American politics... every time you have a conservative that's harping on and on about how homosexuality is immoral and marriage is between one man and one woman and how bad drugs are, they end up getting caught doing cocaine or meth and spending time with a male prostitute or secret gay lover in a hotel somewhere. I'm sure such corruption is universal, though.

Any male with a nice job is oppressive to a student who pursues a gender studies degree, because her having trouble getting a proper white-collar job after she graduates proves the patriarchy exists. In fact they're unlikely to ever meet... although there are plenty of settings in a city for the patriarchy to show off its weird powers.

Hah, so many scenarios. That porno one would probably have a plot twist like "is there another way I can pay for this?" "sorry ma'am, we cant give credit!" "you know what I mean..."*starts yanking down his shorts* "uh sorry ma'am, I dont swing that way!" "THEN YOU MUST DISAPPEAR" *scene turns into a horror show*
