This is the OMAKE of this strip: [link]Canadians were very easy to spot in POW camps because of their "take no shit" kind of attitude that most other races lacked.
But since it *IS* Canada, Prussia didn't notice that his shoelaces were being tied together. That was just for fun, but he proved to deserve it.
In case you don't speak German, here are translations for Panel 4.
"Auf Deutsch"- In German
"Ja, Herr PreuΓen"- Yes, Mister Prussia.

It's true, some things have been known to awaken the Canadian's rage. I myself have on occasion chased someone with a hockey stick. It's sort of fun, actually.

I dunno... Canadians are more bilingual than most other Axis countries, German isn't that hard to learn either.
But seriously, I (and most other Canadians) find it very annoying when people mistake me to be American. I wouldn't go so far as violence, but POW camps change people...
But then again, this one isn't meant to be historically accurate (or else we'd see more German coming from Prussia)

I don't see what you mean that USA is more German-ish. Both countries have had substantial amounts of German immigrants, but no German pioneers.
Most POW's didn't know German, but likely a few picked up the basic expressions "Yes Mister/Ja Herr..." Americans, Brits, and Canadians alike. As I said earlier, it's a really easy language.
I just chose to draw Canada here because he was more prominant in the previous strip, and the book I'm getting my POW stories from is also Canadian.
