More practice. This is my o.c. Mia, her suit is kind of a w.i.p. Im happy with how this turned out tho. Tell me what you think. Constructive critisism is encouraged here people.Related content

Alright, let me start by saying I love the texture of her suit. It's absolutely fantastic, I mean if a person looks they can see the individual strokes, but they're well-placed and perfectly colored... So it ends up being a very nice style. I like that that style is carried over into the hair, too. It's easy to make hair look kind of fake like that, but the values of color you used help keep it looking real.
On that note though, there are two things I notice.
The first is, you might make the top of her ear poke through a bit, or at least make the hair look like it's contoured around it just a smidge. I'm not talking Dumbo ears, I'm just saying a suggestion of an ear. (Obviously this is just me.) Or it could be that you need to lower it a bit so that more of the bottom is showing. I don't know there's just something weird about it... But that's ONLY if I sit and look for something to pick at, so don't feel too bad. lol. You could leave it alone and it would be no big deal.
The other thing is the back of her neck seems a bit too bright. Even though the light is coming from a certain direction, I think it needs to be much darker on the back edge. You've got fantastic contrast over the rest of the piece, I think her skin should be no exception. You can leave the rest of her skin alone, though, 'cause it's awesome.
Anyway fantastic drawing. It's much easier for someone to criticize another person than it is to draw something as freaking awesome as this. I wish I could draw any of my O.C.s---I can only draw from reference and copy it down exactly.
And I just noticed the black line around the whole figure. Nice touch, it really makes her stand out.

I really really apreciate the comments man! I tend to hold back on useing alot of dark where there should be shadows, and Im working on that. I think Im affraid of loosing some sort of detail, but you are right. I really like other peoples stuff where they use greater contrast, its just getting to a point where i can make myself do it. thanks alot for the pointers again. Im gonna keep doing more close ups like this one so i can get my style down pat. So i hope to hear from you again on my next piece!

Yeah, great shadows can make or break a piece. You'll get it down eventually---if minor shadows are the greatest of your worries, well, you're probably doing alright.
I'll be on the lookout FOR your next piece. I often cannot comment on them because of time constraints, school/work can do that to ya. But I'll keep an eye out.
