Low and behold, this picture suddenly just...appeared to me one day. Yup. I woke up with an epiphany and a sudden understanding of perspective. Well, a better understanding than I had before, at any rate.
Why are Seph and Xem together here?
They have no game interaction, and little to tie them beyond a shared color of their hair. But both of them are unparalleled by their peers in terms of power, intelligence, and a general gallactic comprehension. They could either help each other, or destroy each other, and both outcomes are equally likely should the two ever meet. Probably a good thing they DIDN'T, as I can't imagine what sort of wonderful boss Sora would run across in that case. Actually, it makes me pretty gleeful to imagine it. :3
I shall now turn over to U-E for further interpretation.
Once upon a time, Xemnas decided he should make a heart, for he had not one of his own - and it needed to be a giant heart, one that he could share with all his friends.
Unfortunately, all of a sudden, all his friends had disappeared, taken away by a big clunky key of some crazy little boy (and the crazy little boy's best friend, and the clone of the crazy little boy's best friend and the assumed boyfriend of the crazy little boy's Nobody.)
As it was, now poor Xemnas was left all alone, and he would have felt sad or lonely, except...well, he couldn't, for he had no heart.
As he mused on this predicament, an angel descended from the Darkness. "Why are you all alone?" asked the angel, who was One-Winged, but in truth had three.
"All my friends have been taken from me, and I have no heart to mourn for them." Xemnas replied, with no sadness in his voice.
"That truely is a predicament," responded the angel.
"Indeed," agreed Xemnas, "And now I know not what to do."
"Let's fight," suggested the angel, unexpectedly.
And before they knew it, a great battle erupted across the dark city, on top the white castle and in the night sky. Both Xemnas and the angel drew upon the greatest reserves of the strengths, for neither had ever encountered anyone quite like the other before.
In the end, many hours and many mutant boss forms later, Xemnas finally fell, defeated. "I win," announced Sephiroth.
...well, & this is gonna get weirder. ^_-

I like this one (even if I was forbidden to touch Xem's or Seph's eyes) - the only problem is it was hard to capture all the battle-damage because all the details were so tiny.

hmm i always wondered who would win, Sephiroth or Xemnas? and how about Master Xehanort? i mean i know they are two powerful beings but according to FFVIII Sephiroth is the most powerful man in the Planet... so what do you think?

Holy crap! It's like a scene straight outta my fanfic! ::gets excited and runs in circles:: Anyway, it's rare to see a peice of art that hasn't been messed around with in a photoshop or what have you, and sticks with the basics, AND looks kick ass on all the shading and attention to all the little peices in the work.

Oh, wow. o.o That...was....terribly crack. I got stuck on the part after Xemnas became a woman, so...give me a few days before I'm brave enough to try it again. *laughs* Its written well, its just...I've never read crack before, really!

Black just seems so...uncomplicated.
I can totally dig it in other people's art, but I cannot force myself to use it myself for anything other than outlines. I like to have a lot of color depth, I guess - it's the only way I can process images. I just naturally see everything as oversaturated. ^_^;

How about, here: This is spectacular. Absolutely spectacular. saeru went above and beyond on their lineart for Seph... It's unreal, the amount of detail, all around.
U-E, hun... Your coloring skills, as always, amaze me. I'm still dumbstruck that you can palette-swap violet for black, and *totally make it work*. [cue un-dying envy, for both of y'all]
And, of course... OMG, the exposition. Man... I *heart* it, exponentially. It fits so well, yet... Is so... *imaginative*, which seems to be, like, word of the week, or something... lol.
Man, that must have been a battle to see. ...And, an aftermath to imagine. Bravo!

Heh. First of all, thankyou for refering to me as a 'they.' *grin* Despite our just-bordering-on-possible-shonen-ai drawing style, I don't like it when people think I'm a girl. Kudos to you on tact. ^.~
When I started this, I just...wanted to draw the scene. It had somehow escaped me how FREAKING COMPLICATED KH2 Seph was. But I had fun with it, anyhow. ^.^ We were mostly worried that all the detail would get lost in the coloring. I think U-E invented 7 new shades of not-black for this picture alone.
We're going to keep right on imagining the aftermath. *evil grin*

~saeru has such...tiny expressions, it's hard to tell what is going on there sometimes. And I was not allowed to do *anything* to their faces in this one. We have this ongoing battle when I try to color crazy over eyes. XD So I conceded to leave this one 'as is.'
Admittedly, Xemnas has the excuse that he legitamately cannot probably remember how to properly make an expression. And Seph is just so out and above *everything* he may end up being pretty unreadable. I suppose the thing about this is that it keeps some parts of the scene up to the viewer's imagination as to what just happened and what is about to.
And actually...right now, I'm coloring a lovely piece of Anguish for later this week. We *can* do unblank expressions sometimes. XD

The background was my fault. ^_^; It's loosely based on the style of Tomomi Kobayashi - who single-handedly pwns all the other Square illustrators combined (except Amano, of course, who is in a different catagory all together.)
I'm still experimenting with backgrounds in general though, cuz I figured we ought to have some. Makes it seem more like a storybook pic this way...hence the silly caption of mine. ^_^;

Markers (at least used like this) are a totally new thing for me since starting collabs with ~saeru I used to simply use them for under-sketching paintings. Now I seem to be using 90% markers with just a tiny bit of paint on top.
(And there's gonna be more of Xem n Seph coming up soon...)
