Speedpaint here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5zaCF…Crash and Spyro have been through a lot. They practically grew up together. Wherever one went, the other would follow with ups and downs along the way. Though Spyro was starting to grow distant with each new home they would move to. New places and unfamiliar faces that never seemed quite like home.
Then one day, Crash disappeared and wasn't heard from for several years. Spyro had the spotlight for awhile until he too seemed to be pushed aside in his own world. Life wasn't the same anymore. Things seemed to be getting worse.
And then, after a long wait, Crash finds his way back. With the two reunited, even though the world they both now live in wasn't the best place, they at least had each other.
Crash and Spyro finally had a place they could call 'home'.
So! Crash is in Skylanders now. My feelings have been . . . very mixed. But what's most important to me is that I finally get to see his goofy grin again. And I gotta say, the model they made for him looks great! I knew that once this was announced I had to draw a reunion picture with him and his old dragon buddy ^_^ It's great drawing these two again. The idea for a picture stems off of an au I had a few years ago that I tweaked a bit recently. It's a loose metaphor of Crash and Spyro's game history, going to the same companies together and then Activision splitting them apart.
I had the thought that as the years went on, Spyro would grow more distant from Crash, and as he did so, this changed him physically and mentally. The more distant he becomes from the ones he loves, the uglier he gets. The point where he reaches Skylanders and tries to start a new life is where his good nature becomes nothing but a facade. Sure he helps people when he can and he tried making new friends, but he's been dead inside for far too long. Then once Crash returns after many years, Spyro at this point thinking his best friend was dead, Spyro can start being himself again. Or something along those lines.
Just a thought anyway, interpret the picture however you like! ^_^

Stendhal syndrome: this best describes how I feel about this comic strip (Google it if you don't know what it means person reading! That's what I did to find the label for the condition I think I experienced upon the first glance at this). This looks absolutely amazing, as I've come to admire and expect from your channel. But your ability to illustrate emotion itself with such genuity and grace is just incredible. You draw the "reason" why people love these characters and others. The eyes, the expressions, those tears... I'm at a loss for words on just how effortlessly you draw love. That doesn't happen a lot, I'm a walking thesaurus.
I want this to be real. Your other Crash-X-Spyro pics chipped at my hardened exterior, but now the floodgates are open. I believe in this, I believe in its sincerity, I believe it is adorable, and I believe this is true love.
Another absolutely extraordinary piece of true artwork. Now the idea is consuming me, and I'll be thinking about this for days. Man I love your channel!

Actually, as a matter of fact, (maybe as a shameless self promotion!)I do have a story line as a gift to brittinroberts after viewing this and being so moved by it, which loosely adapts all of her art regarding Sonic x Megaman and Crash x Spyro into a novel of sorts which reads in my... ugh... style.

You realize he’s a robot, right? He’s an imitation of life; no… he’s a mockery of it! How could you love something like that? What’s wrong with you? It doesn’t have feelings. It can’t; all of what it can think is merely determined by segments of code, not rational thoughts. What I’d like to know is what kind of perverted man creates an android that looks like a young boy which falls in love with animals? Disgusting, immoral, wrong!
He’s not even a Dragon, or from this dimension! I could get past that he’s a male, barely, but to fall in love with something that isn’t your own species, to have… those kinds of feelings is just cree
It's five chapters in so far, and it clashes the "controversy" of the subject with just how exactly their loves came to be in the first place. What I mean by controversy is that some characters are actually themselves appalled by their own feelings toward their friends and shy away from it. (AND YES, I"M GETTING TO YOUR NOTE! There's' a lot of notifications I'm tackling here).

Yeah, gave her a Core membership for a year and have asked for three commissions so far. She's so nice and approachable, I'm glad to know her. She is pretty special and very talented. I hope I can do something nice for her when she uploads her 1000th deviation.

Yeah, even that came as a shock to me that Crash is making a comeback, it'll still be interesting to see what the re-mastered editions will look like once they're revealed too. ^^

Awww, this is super adorable! ^^ I don't play Skylanders myself, but I am super excited to hear Crash's games are being remade! I really hope they do the same for Spyro too~, then my childhood would be fully revived!

Mmm indeed, while I hope they stick to the core mechanics! I would like to see them do something to differentiate the games enough that they stand out from the originals. More than just a pretty looking 'remaster'.~
