i don't normally build from bedrock level unless i'm in single player because on servers slimes are annoying.

i like to look into references of all sides. for the most part, if i can use original work as a fuller reference, then that is what i'll use even if it's a video. doing it in 3d like this is mainly patience and accepting that it won't be done within one sitting.

first thing i've tried in Minecraft to build is a wooden castle in the sky in survival mode before Creative was a thing. since then getting Creative mode, building bigger things of obnoxiously large amounts of resources just became a lot easier and what took me originally several hours just to get the materials for and a build in 2d was simply done in about one hour. so i moved on from simply just 2d to also doing 3d.

there's a lot more resource pack availability, you can make and upload your own personal skins as well as download skins others made, lots of cool mods to check out, massive public servers with minigames, server commands, world varieties, earlier updates to future features, command blocks, lots of map-making potential.

it took a while to get done with it being built on a server that had to be backed up 4 times from someone accidentally a tnt mess that many times. thank you very much!

it was nowhere by my builds, however i did have to reset the server a bunch for the admin and start the skirt over each time.

that almost makes me want to make and adventure map or something with it.

you can turn it into a capture the tower. Just scatter dispensers with hoes and spread some gold blocks all around her ( on her cape and sycthe) then place the obsidian on the tip of her sycthe. First team of morons to put the final gold block on the tower wins. Granted the AH gang will just fall off ruby before getting to their first block and linsay will kill what's left.

i think if i were to make a minigame map out of it like that, i'd like a bunch of massive trees put in along with some crazy snowy bits as well as a bunch of snowflakes to parkour and fight upon in a flowy formation like it's being carried by the wind. maybe have a few spawners that give players jump boost with some work in MCedit.
