This is an amazing photo!! It's perfectly sharp - not blurry at all - and you captured his beautiful eye wonderfully. I can see every detail - great photo!!

well sheesh if you want to complicate things for this person who probably doesnt understand latin names.... Images come up with rubbish examples of this snake when you type in the latin
Its an Amethystine (scrub) Python
Scrub python comes up with the best results if you wanna check.
Again i may be wrong, but the head certainly looks like one.

Who doesn't understand Latin names? Probably only very young children, or people who have never opened an encyclopedia before.
Besides, this deviant has used Latin names in her deviation descriptions before.

It sounds like your getting at me?
Is that not a scrub python then because it doesnt matter to me what name i call it by.
Im only 17 and only had snakes for a year and a half.
Im still good enough to get a job at my reptile shop... why isnt knowing all reptile latin names a bad thing? It doesnt make me less knowledgable.
Im sorry for attempting to be helpful

I looked it up, and a Morelia Nauta is not a scrub python. It may not matter to you to know all the Latin names of every reptile, but when you are trying to identify species of reptiles, it is really helpful because there are a lot of reptiles out there that share common names, or who have more than one common name. So the Latin name is often the only way to make sure two people are talking about the same reptile. I was not attacking you, I just thought you were being rude by assuming this artist would not know what a taxonomic name is used for.

okay then, fine.
But what shares a common name? Moreso in snakes? Im not big on lizards or amphibians.
I really dont see the difference and the point of telling this to someone who is pretty new to reptiles anyway, im sure in 3 years time i will be able to use more latin names.
Give me a break... and i wasnt being rude, i was suggesting something whilst trying to help. Im obivously wrong and im so sorry if i offended anyone

The only herp example I can think of off the top of my head is the Red-eyed tree frog. Anyway, it doesn't matter if you don't know a lot of Latin names - I don't either. I'm just saying it's useful when identifying animals.

To help identify your python:

So very familiar and I'm trying to remember his name... I've seen this species for captive sale...

It looks like what it is, the Morelia nauta to me.

Those more knowledgeable about pythons please step in!
