"Are my ears burning? Because with how hot I look, I should be on fire!"Nightmare Rarity is sort of pretty - I imagine that stallions would find her quite attractive. And she really does say that in the comic. It's quite surprising some of the writing they can get away with!
This image is based off one of my favourite scenes in the comic, namely the panel in which Nightmare Rarity says the above phrase. It is not traced; it is my own freehand rendition of the scene. (Furthermore, in that panel, Nightmare Rarity is wearing armour and here she isn't.)

Another spoiler warning.
The Nightmare force resided on the moon the whole time after it was removed from Luna. If we assume the comics tie into the series, then at some point between episode 1x02 and 2x04, the force awakened. It invaded the dreams of the main six, trying to seek out which seemed weakest. In the end, it chose Rarity and kidnapped her to the moon, where the transformation was completed.
