Description The Path comes from visualising the word 'help' and what it can mean, for some it is light at the end of a tunnel.

The perspective is really cool, and so are the colors. Well done

This really does feel like a dark cave with all the texture of 360 degrees of rock. Really cool!

i see myself surfacing from a subterranean cave... fantastic... this really evokes a lot of thought for such a simple piece...

Light and shadows are very tricky to portray in a painting/drawing. You've done an exceptional job with both aspects.

Thanks Helen, I did find it challenging but kept going with it.

wow. The help is bright and shining compared to the atmosphere of darkness everywhere but it's pretty far off and looks hard to get to right now. You've summed up my life at this moment in time so it makes me somewhat uncomfortable to look at this, but there is hope on the way. Awesome feeling to this one.

Some works can have that effect, it also let me see I have managed to get the feel of the painting right.

Thanks for the comment, on this one there is no smudging, although I often use smudge to create the feel of texture.

I also really like the atmosphere in this! The brightness of the tunnel and overall darkness of everything else is great!

Very atmospheric. It says a lot to me this one. Firstly I wonder how is he going to get up to the light? Is there sharp rocks hiding there? Then again it could be a moon shining through a heavy cloud cover. I like the placement of the head too & the hair. Well done AFG!

This is the first work for Visual Literacy, the word we were given was 'HELP', we could either make it personal or commercial, I wanted to depict how often help can be seen as light at the end of a tunnel but it can be difficult to get to it; an up hill struggle. Now I have to work backwards and do a sketch and explain where the idea comes from ( we are supposed to do Idea, Sketch, Painting), having never kept a sketch book or tried to explain the idea process, the head in the painting represents me.

You certainly got that feel, AFG.

Sketch for the idea sounds like those awful journal things about my decision-making processes we had to do for our teacher training. Hated them then but I can now see the value in examining the processes, since they affect the outcome. Very hard to examine a process which is often based on emotions.

I am glad you can share some of the experiences with us.
