Again, as usual these times, I did this commission for the rusting carcass 's portfolios again.For this one, the theme was the G1 cartoon episode called "A Prime Problem". I didn't see the episode but from what I can tell, the decepticons created a fake Optimus Prime that they could control from a distance with a sort of ridiculous (to me) helmets (see here ). I was assigned to Starscream on this portfolio. For once I drawn an iconic character
.I went with a pretty classic style here to stay kind of close to the G1 cartoon feel. It was and pleasant to do.

Well, they told you the story wrong. The clone of Optimus Prime, that not even Teletron 1 was able to distinguish from the original, was piloted by Megatron.
Then to convince the autobots that it was the true Optimus, Megatron cloned Starscream and made the true Starscream piloting his clone to make it destroyed by the clone of Optimus. And the plan worked. But then Megatron made a terrible mistake that spoiled who was the true Optimus Prime.

The shading is pretty basic and I'd be tempted to do something more intricate now. But it could be a mistake as it render the cartoon look better.

Not at all. I enjoyed it really. Though I have to say, why come up with such a plan when the only Autobot name Megatron knows is Bumblebee? He should have done his homework.

Starscream is probably one of THE best characters from the Transformer series <3. You did a great job at recapturing his original 80s design. It stays true too the simple body design while keeping some of the more modern tech details, like the pivot gears and the little rivots and bolts in his biuld.
I love how you did his pose, as he shows off the control device, almost like he's sporting a new head piece and he's showing it off. Bling bling baby! Can Megatrons helmet piece look that cool and have it's own visible radio waves, NOOOooooo!
Once again really great work on this model, you did a great job at the overall build and frame of Starscream and with the details in his armor. I even just now noticed the marks at his knee caps, just like the original toy.

For staying true to the original cartoon design, I have to thank Carcass for offering me the IDW Ark book that helps a lot !
And for adding some reallistic details, well.... I can't help doing it
But for the pose, now, I think I could have make more exagerated in the perspective, focussing more on the helmet and less on the rest of the body... Maybe I'll redo it all over.
