Description
For those who don't recognize it, it is theGobots command center . Even as a child, I couldn't keep myself to think about the empire quadripod from Star Wars when it was appearing on TV. It was just lamer. So I drew this. One of the toys I really don't like in the gobot line (it even displayed a cafetaria for gobot....so ridiculous!!!). I don't know if it belonged to the Robomachine line too.

At least the Command Center can fly through space on its own.
That's it.
I'm not really a fan of Go-Bots.

I agree about the Command Center resembling an AT-AT.Β The Guardians would be best advised not to wander into the Star Wars galaxy...though that would be difficult if getting there involves interdimensional travel.Β Dimensional portals in space can be tricky.

To whom it may concern, which I believe is you, (haha),
Would you allow me to use this piece to put on a videogame cotroller? I will give you credit. (You can customize your arcade sticks with artwork, and this is a picture from those fun cartoons I enjoyed, (which by the by, I liked GoBots and Transformers equally, but like the GoBots theme music MUCH better!)
I believe this sums them all up in one Snowspeeder swoop!
Whether yes or no, I appreciate the consideration!

the gobots are the biggest rip off in the history of big rip offs. TRANSFORMERS ALL THE WAY!
some of the gobots transformations were so simple that all you had to do was stand them up and they would be robots.

Well.... I don't want to start an argument here.
But you seem to compare toys from diferent time, size and price together. What you say about Gobots can be said about Transformers from the same age and rate. Even Leader-1 in his "super-gobot" iteration (that is not complex than the basic one) is as complex as G1 Starscream (but with no seperate loosable pieces). And Transformers of the same size as Gobots were even simpler.
So the "Gobots suck, Tranformers rule !" debate is sterile. Toys suck and rule in both the franchises ( That I love equaly, but, honestly, "Transformers don't need more advocate).
Lets just say we all love transformable toys wherever they're from.

i suppose your right. but seriously, you don't see triple changer in gobots. and sixshot is one of the most (if not thee most) complex toys ever made. you don't see things like that. and if you look at this commercial you'll probably change your mind in about 5,4,3,2,1: [link]

Again, you're comparing a 30cm or more figure sold at the time almost 100 USD (Am I right ?) to 7 cm, 10 or 20 USD figures ? Really ? No point here. (And I won't even talk about the "sort of modes" of SixShot).
And for Gobots commercials, try to find the "MachineRobo" from BandaΓ―. They're as good as the Diaclone's ones from that time. This is not a secret that the "Gobots" brand and merchandising from Tonka to sale the BandaΓ―'s Machinerobo toy were lame.

what the heck does USD mean?
and what do you mean that they are from different time periods. they are both from the early 1980's and some are the same size. and what does the size matter? haven't you ever heard of the phrase "size doesn't matter".
and what does that last paragraph mean anyway?

USD : US Dollar. It's used everywhere on the internet.
Well... I said I didn't want to start an argument here. If you don't understand what I'm talking about, try to learn a little more about this hobby and it's history.
I'm kind of tired to explain obvious things to biased TF fanboys.
No need to answer. (Or try your luck with a note if you reeeaaaally feel the need to argue)

thanks. i try to remember that.
and just to let u know... actually, i think what i reeeaaaally need to do is talk to my cousin again. what i know comes from him (at least about the origins of the series) and i'm guessing he may be wrong.
however, you must admit that either way, transformers is better (i'm now talking about the shows which came at the same time). the characters are a lot better and... well... the animation in gobots is bad. there are scenes where characters who aren't supposed to be flying are walking in the sky... and sometimes i can't tell what the heck is going on in that show.

Just to add a few things here:
While it's true than Tonka's GoBots hit the toy shelves earlier than Hasbro's Transformers, it is Hasbro which come up with the idea of robots that transform into vehicles FIRST. Tonka just took the idea and had it's GoBots toys hit shelves 1st: [link]
The Challenge of the GoBots cartoon was made by Hanna-Barbera, so it's predictable that the people who made Yogi Bear had trouble with making a good transforming robot cartoon!
At the end of the day, not only Transformers G1 beat GoBots in the market (and GoBots sort of became "extinct" ), there are many more series that followed after G1, some better, some worse. In my opinion, of all the Transformers series, Transformers Prime is the best, the 2007 Michael Bay film comes in 2nd best, Revenge of the Fallen lacks the magic of the 1st film, G1 is OK, and I strongly dislike Animated.
But that's just my personal taste.

supergoji18 In reply to TyrannosaurusPrime [2011-06-19 11:57:10 +0000 UTC]
according to my new knowledge, gobots hit first but Takara made the toy that transformers was based on LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG before the toys that gobots was based off of came around (gobots toys came in the late 80's, Microman came from the 70's).
what i think happened is that H&B were desperate for ideas, they committed the crime of Industrial Espionage and took Hasbro's idea. (forgive me for sounding like a conspiracy nut).
Transformers shall always be superior to gobots. no matter what.
as the series, i think G1 was the best. it had some great episodes, great characters, great soundtrack, and was just so awesome!
beast wars was good.
armada was ok. energon i never saw, and cybertron was... um... well i don't want to say bad because that was one of the first versions i saw and my first TF toy was a TF cybertron Ransack... so its ok.
animated was pretty good to me. i liked the designs, i liked some of the stories, i liked the references to G1, i liked the story at times. the only thing was that the animation style was a bit too... toony. when i first saw a trailer for the show i thought to my self "oh crap, this is TF for babies isn't it?" but the show did grow on me.
The movies: i look at them for what they really are, not how the G1 whiners see it (to them, if its not G1 its crap.) and for what they really are, they are pretty good. i admit they could have focused a bit more on the robots but i think they fixed that up in the new one.
as for prime i used to not like it. i had only seen a few episodes which i'm guessing were just filler. Then i decided to give it another chance and it has grown on me considerably. my only problem is the continuity... not in the show, i mean for the creators. at first they said it was a sequel to WFC, but there are so many differences between the 2 that one couldn't be a sequel to the other. then they said it was a sequel to TF Exodus. again, continuity problem!
if i ever become someone in the film industry, i hope to make a new TF show that would put all others to shame! "i hope and pray that i will."

Yeah, it's a little weird that Hasbro and others considered War for Cybertron to be the prequel of Transformers Prime.... (I haven't played the game, but I watched videos of it from YouTube) In WFC, the robots have noses (and are more based on their G1 design), but in Transformers Prime, the robots lack noses (like Animated)....
All the same, it's impossible for GoBots to beat Transformers in almost everything; if there will be a live-action film of GoBots, I'm sure it would have extremely low box office ratings (since GoBots is quite unpopular in the 1st place) and it would be a B-movie (or worse, Z-movie!)!!!!
BTW I found this funny video: [link]

well in animated their helmets (or whatever they are) came down between the eyes and made a nose. that's what surprised me about this show. when i saw this vid i was caught off guard by optimus's nose: [link]
