God, that third tag is such a mood. Though admittedly, most of the time, when it comes to Samus, it's more of a "as a fan of her character I'm appalled, but as someone attracted to her, I'm intrigued" kinda deal.

Yeah, no. I can see what you mean. With Samus in particular, it's just the sad truth that most of fanart of Samus - size or otherwise - just really tends to rob her of all that makes her such a cool character, in exchange for making her just another big-breasted pretty face.

You want a badass in power armour that can rid your place of beasties... use Samus

Oh, yes. There's definitely no shortage on those, even if you discount all the OCs that people have.
Samus would work extremely well for stuff where she's giant-sized and fighting some of the giant monsters from her series, though.

Though I'm guilty of doing size art out of existing characters, I also made sure to keep the characters in question to stay in-character instead of them doing "just what are they doing". Playfulness, dominance (if the character is already domineering), shock, depended on the character in question... in other words, still keeping their personality traits.
Truth to be told, the problem isn't exclusive to size arts; this also happens a lot for other fetish arts by various artists as well.

So true. I'm particularly against the reduction/disappearance of noses, and the creepy line mouths. But most of all, the vapid looks, or the ones that express abject helplessness about the fact that some buglike thing has pressed itself against their fleshy form.Β

It's the vapidness that is the biggest sin for me. Seeing the so-called powerful being reduced to nothing but a sex dolly. No mind, character or thoughts of her own. It galls me, so it does.

Some (A lot) of people like that sort of thing. I agree it's not suiting for a lot of characters, and sometimes it just downright gets corny.
