Wonderful! Forgive me for saying so, but, like Iga-Shinobi, my mind immediately jumped to LOTR, although I thought he looked more like the king of the dead that Aragorn leads. In any case, the charcoal effects are fantastic; I've never seen such a dynamic piece done in that medium!

Amazing, I need to read up on slavonic mythology more...forgive me for citing popular culture, but I can't help but be reminded of the Twilight Nazgul in the Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring film when I see this...

Hehe...I am ashamed to say that I have still only read the Hobbit, not Lord of the Rings...the films seem like decent attempts though, as good as you could get in a film adaptation of Tolkien...and his work brings the various mythologies of Europe into his own fantasy world very well...
Yeah, I do not know much about Slavonic mythology, apart from a few names maybe...but have forgotten...guess it is different and therefore a bit more alien to us western Europeans, like this picture...your charcoal worked well, it has a nice mystical, earthly tone to it...

read it!
slavionic mythology is in conception similar with german, as both are indoeuropean, but for sure there is a lot differences in names, stories and rituals..
the best way to feel it is come back to the old wood

You have such a wonderful technique and control over charcoal. I think its such a beautiful medium and works so well with the mythology here.

Charcoal? I thought this was an etching, it's so precise. The hair and finger mirror each other.

Vague yet intricate, I love the gloomy feel of this one. The pointing finger is the best part of the whole piece... such incredible detail!

I can't believe this is charcoal - it looks like an etching to me, very... precise. It's very abstract while remaining mystical - you captured the mythological feeling really well.
