What strikes me the most in this photo is the way the technique calls for my imagination. The way the focus is constrained to the mushroom enables my imagination to forget about the actual scales of the elements in the frame, and it allows me also wonder on the surroundings of the mushroom.
Concerning the surroundings, all the dark area, blurred as it is, reminds me of a vertiginous ravine which emphasizes the mushroom's delicacy, already noticeable by the way the light draws its fibbers hitting it from above. The light area on the left is also favored by this blur, but in a different way: it suggests me ethereal regions to discover just beyond the ravine.
Overall this is a very suggestive photo: it presents the mushroom in all its natural beauty, yet the unfocused surroundings add a lot of atmosphere and mystery.

Thank you for the critique. I have always been fascinated by the world that is hidden from us by its scale, and once we go closer to these hidden wonders, almost all the features of our macrocosm seem to replicate themselves at a smaller scale. That inversion of scale draws me towards these little wonders.
I am glad you could enjoy a part of what I saw and experienced, however small and insignificant it may seem in reality
