I am very puzzeled with the backround, and its starting to bother me. White seems nice, but does it need something more?

Damn that is freakin' creepy.
I love it.
Only thing I would think to add is some sort of background... and perhaps play with the location of the brighter lights on the eye... somehow they seem a little out of place. Perhaps a bit more to the right? In any case, amazing job.
