i know the NIKON D3 it's much better thank CANON 5D mark II
canon 5d you can put it in the same level with the D700 nikon
and the D3 nikon you can put it in same level with the Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III , cause they are more pro
the results in the D3 it's much better than canon 5D mark II as well
but , what i need now is to get a good picture with a high Quality and I want to get an excellent picture after editing
so the canon 5d mark II is with 21.5 megapixel and the D3 with 12 i think
and the pig problem is all people saying D3 better than canon 5D mark II even if it's with more pixels

i had the same problem before getting my Nikon D90..cz i was confused on which to get it was either the Nikon D90 (12.1 mp) or the Canon 500D (15.1 MP)
but i finally decided on the Nikon based on something else
but in ur case the Difference in MP between both is high..!!
have tried comparing pics that were taken with D3 and the 5D mark II ?!

we tried all cameras
cause my friend own a photography shop , so t8rebn we tried all cameras
so both of them are good and we can get from them a very good pictures with a good Quality and good colors
the different is D3 has more fps ( 11 fps ) , so it's a sports camera and even if it's has 12 megapixel but these pixels are pig and we can processing them as we want
the canon 5D has good colors but it has 3.9 fps , so it's a slow camera , but it's good in another thing , it's good when we want to print the pictures as a Panel Art ( big size )
