Imagine you're sitting at your desk, within the comfort of your four walls, busily working on a drawing that's, hey! This one's coming out good! At first you don't want to be TOO cocky; hey, sometimes you luck out, sometimes a doodle just comes out good. But as the minutes go on, a smile forms on your face. You are absolutely DELIGHTED with how this drawing is turning out. You are working so hard on this digital masterpiece your tablet is sputtering and steaming, begging for mercy under the scribbling fury of your tablet pen. You start to imagine yourself going down in history as one of the greats; you're the Bob Ross of the 21st century.Β
Your computer, on the other hand, doesn't have time for your incompetent lollygagging. There's a driver, somewhere in the deep depths of your computer, that needs a little sprucing up, a little Spring cleaning. You'd never notice the difference, but this is IMPERATIVE. This needs to happen NOW. And so, while your eyes are glued to the screen, concentrating hard on that marvel of modern art, your screen suddenly flashes to a cute little loading bubble, with an equally-cute text that reads "INSTALLING UPDATES. DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR PC."
Aw, what's that? You didn't save your drawing? Ooooh, well that's just a pity, but these updates are IMPORTANT! Didn't you know Windows Firewall hadn't been given a good fixer-upper in almost THREE days? Aren't you worried about your built-in calendar needing a little dusting? You can just redraw it! This is HOUSEKEEPING 101!
That's the magic of Windows 10 for ya. It doesn't care if you're almost done writing that 12-page essay, adding the finishing details to that commission that's already taken you a month to work on, or even watching your favorite episode of The Muppets--if that update needs to be installed, your ass is grass my friend.Β

I feel ya too.
Lost too much work on video games, artworks, and music.
No wonder why I want to refund my computer.

Noo! the curse of the Windows 10 updates! D:
If you want, my friend has an online tool that stops this from spontaneously happening.

My first laptop was a Windows 8, and I remember getting so frustrated with it because I was so used to Windows 7. I've never liked how the newer versions of Windows have built-in apps that take up space and run in the background, but you can't get rid of them.
Eventually that laptop updated over the years until it reached Windows 10, and by golly if Windows 10 wasn't worse than all of the others.
I've used Windows all my life, but if I'm perfectly honest, Windows 7 is still my favorite. Even if it's almost a decade old. :IΒ

Windows 10 is really nice if your computer actually runs it well. :') Otherwise it's just kinda like: "Okay so I'm gonna click on this here folder--" [UPDATING] "wAIT NO, WINDOWS WAIT--"

Wow! In all my years of owning a Windows 10 (that being less than a year) that has never happened to me, the struggle is real.
Sometimes, whenever I go to shut down my laptop it would automatically do the update or I have this Windows 10 Update Assistant tab that I would use to check and make the update without having to restart my computer.

Inconvenient updates are inconvenient.Β
I know the feeling all too well. Hence why I schedule updates when the computer is off or when I'm away from it. I always track my updates. At least Apple/Mac gave you a five minute warning.

This has never happened to me, or I just don't remember that. It always gives meΒ notifications if it needs to install updates or something. I'mΒ quite happy with W10. W7 is still my most favourite tho, but in my opinion W10 isn't that bad. The only thing that annoys me is that W10 isn't supported by most of the older games.

same, I like Windows 10 as well and for the most part I haven't had any problems but it's updated twice without me having been prepared for it And the updates messed up two of my friends' computers and stopped their tablets from working completely :UΒ

Technology is really a bitch sometimes. Occasionally I could be working on a drawing and the next thing you know, Sai decides to crash and close out without you saving the current work. It's happened more than once.Β
