Description Tips for Good & Fast Blender Cycles Lighting:

1- Use 2~4 light bounces.

2- Use Light Falloff node.

3- For Main Light, set it to "Quadtratic" with little/no smoothing.

4- For the other lights make it "Constant" with high smoothing value.

5- Using anything other than Quadratic with zero smoothing gives a physically incorrect result but clears the noise very fast!

6- Composite the final render with a little glow to make transitions between highlighted and dark corners smoother.

I hope you guys find this useful

No, they have stopped development of it, which isn't a huge deal considering what it can do now. I don't know where people are hearing this crap. Alex Telford himself told me it isn't going anywhere.

I read it here: [link]
But actually it only says discontinued not removed.. But if it's no longer being updated then within only a few releases surely it'll get buggy and eventually be dropped completely?

It's not buggy now, and won't be in the future, people just have no clue how to use it and run to Cycles. But the bottom line is, if you can't render in BI, you can't render in Cycles either, or anything else for that matter.

Nope, it won't be getting new updates doesn't mean it won't get debugged and checked once new features are added. It's still too good to be dropped completely off Blender. Maybe in 3~5 years? once Cycles is much more optimized & stable
