Description
This was inspired from a dream one of my Sabbath-school teachers told about in one of her classes. In her dream, she was walking down path between these fields. The sky was blue, there was a few green trees, and it was a beautiful day I think. I'm reciting this from memory. When she continued walking, there was suddenly a snake in the middle of the path in front of her. It was (I can't remember the right word but I imagined it twisting and moving around creepy) and it made her afraid. So she called out to Jesus to come protect her and He was right there! :-D yaaaaayy!
She expected him to destroy the snake, but He did something else that really surprised her. He went over to the snake, picked it up, and began to pet and love it. And He just smiled at her!
She explained that we usually expect Jesus to remove and destroy our fears right there or something. But instead, He is also able to take our fears and love them and use them!
-----
btw the girl in the picture is inspired by my bestie who got to hold a snake like the one above, and she had the most concerned and funny face on her x)
(it was more like 8( than D: like above
and i think i've gotten the hang of Fire Alpaca >:]

I love the thought and the picture. Especially her face. I think your artwork is great at showing Jesus in everyday life ways, applicable in all the moments of the day. I like it. Thanks for sharing your talents.

I only heard his words speak to me once before, and this almost speak to me the same way, his words was more like feelings then words. With that said, the words I get from him is: "Don't fear, I'm here. Trust me." With more feelings the you could feel.

Love this!
I'm one of those weird people who loves almost every animal [except for certain creepy crawlies ], so this just fills my happy cup with the perspective that not everything has to be scary ~ Jesus makes it a fun adventure! ^.=.^Β

Excellent piece! And I agree with ForestHymn--many of God's creatures are labeled as "evil," but ALL of His handiwork is perfect! I love bats especially--they are so cute!

Why does having cloven hooves make an animal dirty?Β
(I don't mean this as any kind of offense to Judaism or an religion, just curious)

Do you mean as unclean to eat?
π: 0 β©: 1
aalbli In reply to NotATameLion [2015-03-30 02:09:48 +0000 UTC]
Oh, well, Leviticus 11:3 says, "Among the animals, whatever divides the hoof, having cloven hoovesΒ andΒ chewing the cudβthat you may eat."
God said if the animal chews its cud AND has cloven hooves, it's definitely CLEAN to eat! Like cows and lambs.
But Leviticus 4 goes on to say that if the animal only has ONE of the TWO qualifications, then it is considered unclean.
For example, Rabbits are UNCLEAN because even though they chew cud, they don't have cloven hooves.
Pigs have cloven hooves, but they don't chew the cud. So they are considered UNCLEAN.
God told us to not eat the unclean animals because He probably wanted us to have a healthy diet for our bodies/living temples. Lots of unclean animals are able to consume toxic materials in the stuff that they eat. But when we eat them, those toxins then go into us and they then make us sick even though we may not notice it.

Now that u put it that way, I wonder why rabbits don't count even if what they mostly eat is vegetables. But I guess we just have to trust God. *shrugs*

They do something called coprophagia, they eat some of their own poop in order to get some nutrients that they can't get directly from eating veggies. It's the bacteria in their hind gut that can break down those nutients, but the hind gut can't absorb it, so they eat the exits the hindgut...

Wow.. just wow.. Thanks for sharing this! I'd always seen animals being maligned and (especially snakes) treated like dirt.. this makes me happy, that is, to know how Jesus treated the snake (even if it was a symbol, for her fears, this is still heart-warming!)

Yeah! I totally agree. I actually do hope dragons, the sea monster leviathan in Job, or at least creatures similar or new will be in heaven. If they exist, God created them right? And He loves all of his creations. So when He comes back He can renew them right? And those creatures look cool to me so it'd be sweet to interact with them . w.Β

Absolutely! (Adam and Eve are sort of the ones who messed up things for animals.. I don't see why animals should pay the penalty..)
(Eeee.. This is the very thing, that I'm kind of really passionate about!!)
I sure believe dinosaurs will be there in the new earth! Why not!
Heaven (or the Earth made new) will be absolute paradise for animals and animal-lovers!

LOL, yes!.. I'm a huge lover of reptiles (snakes not so much, I mean I can stand them, but.. yeah) but yes...
Dinosaurs.. huge reptiles with gorgeous designs.. can't wait to see how God made them..
If the itty bitty reptiles we have now are so colorful and patterned... wonder how dinosaurs really will look like!
(It's incredible how obsessed evolutionist illustrators are - with making dinosaurs look like bags of bones without any facial muscles,
obsessed with drawing them in unnatural, and evidently uncomfortable, positions to make them look like birds, and
obsessed with tarring and feathering dinosaurs...)
Ahh. Someday. God will undo all the nonsense!

Good gravy, how did I miss this?! This is seriously...just jaw-dropping. The amount of detail and love that went into this drawing is mind boggling. The lighting from the torch is beautiful, and really gives this a feeling of warmth and safety. All these animals present are known to be sources of fear for many people, but they way you've drawn them all in such a way to want to be near them is very well done. This drawing is really a testament to how far you've come as an artist, and it's a wonderful representation of your faith. Kudos to your teacher for having such an amazing vision, and to you for bringing it to life.

Well the darker parts are where the light would not hit. The lighter is where the light hits more.
