Description
In the middle of 1403 a.Hz., Mithanea rose in rebellion against the Empire of Hzaar, joining the ranks of the provinces of Noven, Althar and Hôms. Wedged in between two traditional Imperial provinces - Servaínne and Carai - the Mithanean trade oligarch and field commander, Polocastar, was tasked with defending his home province and keeping the adversaries separated and confused. The Battle of the Mithanean Gate, which followed after a series of subtle tactical feints by Polocastar, turned into a decisive and utterly crushing victory for the Revolutionaries. Using ruse, maneuver and the moment of surprise, the Mithaneans were able to convince their Servaínnian counterparts that they were going to attack on the flank opposite to the one on which the real assault would be carried out. The resulting force imbalance favoured the Mithaneans: their weak flank was on higher ground and in rough terrain. With the Loyalists thus swept from the field, Polocastar could continue ravaging Servaínne for most of the war, until Carai staged a mighty counterattack that eventually crippled Mithanea for good.
