Hello!If you're confused why I drew and posted this see my latest journal right here: fav.me/d7rnkbu
I'm not quitting drawing, not by a long shot, I'm just taking a step forward and drilling in all that I know, so that I can cut reference pictures out of my work entirely... Obviously they have their use, but trying to imitate them exactly, while tough work, isn't a way for me to become better... So, with about 45 minutes of free-time at work today, my personal exercise was to draw as many Anime/Manga styled eyes as I could from scratch without reference materials...
I also had more room (and time) left over, so I just filled it with random things I could think of... Bonus points if you can tell who I drew (or tried to anyways) by memory in the bottom right corner (assuming (s)he is recognizable)!
Otherwise I'll probably work on mouths and a few other miscellaneous things tomorrow... If there's any critiques, or feedback anyone has that would be awesome! I'm always open to new/better ideas!

Last time I tried to shade them, my mother had to help me (I got my drawing and creativity mainly from her, but when it comes to drawing, while I'm good, I am stronger in other areas)

Yea, my dad loved to draw himself... He actually drew the equivalent of Anime back in the 80s... Looking at his old drawings bring back so much nostalgia!

Yea... I actually have never been artistic... The most I did as a kid was color and draw shapes... Kinda lame, but it's what I did well...

That I did thank heavens (especially my photography, however, still want to improve). As for the rendering, I'd say 50/50 there, still struggling with the lighting and all those settings Source Filmmaker has (it's amazing how something may seem so insignificant, but rather important to a better photo)

Ryuko!! Awesome idea man. It's pretty funny, i was just sitting here thinking that i need to start with eyes, like just nail down a style of eyes. And then i see this lol. You are a step ahead haha. Keep it up. I have no doubts you will be able to create some great original work

Nailed it! Must be the gear-like eyes... She's the only one I know that has them!
Hopefully I'll finish with todays work! I want to get to body poses as soon as possible!
