No, Ive never heard of it. I never did get in to manga at any point as i'm not personally a big fan of the story telling style of that or anime, however now that I have looked it up thank you, it looks very interesting and may be something I should look in to.
I don't really try to aim for creepy. strange maybe, but mostly just opening up my mind and bringing to life the strange imagery that we all have hidden inside of us.
I suppose this one speaks out pretty clearly on the subject of beauty. once you know the subject matter it begins to be more clear.

and when the piece is finish people ask me "oh do you wanna say this and that wih this?"
