thats a really great work! you made it guessing the colors? that's so real... could you share how you make the skin pores? seems like you used noise, but I don't think that's just it...

!Thats the question. some of it looks like just "add noise" but that should be just the beggining of it...

This is a great step-by-step image. It really helped me to understand how you go about rendering the piece, and how I might approach it myself. And the result at the end is STUNNING, to say the least. Excellent!

It looks pretty amazing! Though I like the second to last better, it has a more painterly feel.
I would put a mask on the texture layer and let it come through only in specific spots, like the highlights.
Great job in any case

If I hadn't seen that there was a whole painting process, I would've thought it was a photograph. Awesome job.

this is really nice
did you use a color picker for the colors or were you just able to match them by sight?

I wish I could understand how painting like this takes place. Like what's the process and all that jazz. It's hard learning it on my own without guidance of a teacher, but such is that of self taught I suppose. Some day I wish to get this good~!

Aaron, this is amazing X 20. You seem to set your base colors with such a hard brush and then smooth over everything....such a winning technique!

The second last one would've already sufficed. I know you added the noise to make it seem more realistic and more like what you see on TV, but-.. I just like the second last one better. It's more clear and painterly. (:

Maromanko In reply to ehecod [2013-06-01 15:41:03 +0000 UTC]
It's not just noise though. It's a realistic skin texture. I love the freckles, I think it's perfect. The next level of skill would be to create something of this caliber without copying a photograph.. to create a painting of a realistic person from scratch or depict this person in a scene/pose/lighting she has never been in... Anyway, This is very impressive realism and great practice for more "painterly" work as you say.

ehecod In reply to Maromanko [2013-06-01 15:47:51 +0000 UTC]
Well, before I got into art myself I was blown away by photorealistic stuff. It was the most fascinating level of art to me, but opinions change as your "eye level" improves. Now I think it's kind of dull and I find more painterly and exaggerated things better. :L
