what ? you trolling? it just shows how talented the artist is, i would of been happy with the one before last but then i saw the last one and was amazed

I used to be awestruck by photorealistic works, but I guess opinions change. This is obviously painted from reference, and yes, it does show that the artist is capable of using brushes well which is something that not everyone can do, but those that can, could bring just about the same results with enough time devoted.
I just prefer the more painterly style nowadays, I guess. And the last one would be alright without the noise overlay I suppose.

The last one shows the skill to create an image with photo-realistic look, the second-to-last one shows the skill to create amazing character artwork. They're both great pictures on their own, but the artist's choice was the image with noise, and we're probably all here because we checked out exactly that noisy image - and liked it.
My personal preferrence is the second-to-last frame, while what the artist tried to do (I can only assume from the caption 'screenshot study') is more closely conveyed in the last frame.
