Description I DID NOT DRAW THIS!!
this is something i received from a teacher while attending the Kubert school. i was looking for something the other day and found it. i used to have this hanging above my desk and it will do so again. i have uploaded this at a high res so that anyone that wants to download it or print it can do so.
this pretty much explains it all for me. it keeps me a little more motivated because without the hard work you will not improve your skills.
i'm gonna splash this on my main page so when i am dinking around when i should be drawing this will be a constant reminder that i should be on the grind.

exactly. you cannot pretend to make a masterpiece in one or two hours, that would be ridicolous

I was going to say that it looks a lot like Robert Crumb's work.

Yup. Art is like any other skill. You get better the more you use it. So you pretty much have to do it every day if you have a love for it.

yeah, you're right. it's all about dedication. and hard work.

Then again if you have love for it, it's not really hard work.

I say this out of experience for my own field - writing.

After all this is the difference between a job and a career. In a job there's too much time. In a career, there's not enough time.

well, it that sense it's not hard work, but when i have to sit at the desk for 12 hours drawing a page no matter how much i love it i still have to be motivated enough and have that dedication to stay there. and when the motivation is not there on a particular day, it becomes hard work. the mind can wonder easily, and you have to really force yourself to bust through that block.

but i agree with you. and "not enough time" is a good way of phrasing that. it's too true.

Yup. It does seem that way in any creative endeavor. That it's a lonely thing to do. Especially when you're doing a lot of it on your own it becomes like crossing the pacific ocean in a bathtub.

I had an art teacher in school who always used to say the only difference between a good artist and a bad one was practice, he was right !

It does!
I think that drawing was made by Robert Crumb! He was a great "underground" of the 60s and 70 (He still is awesome!) He was one of my artistic inspirations, when I was a kid.
