this is beautiful, but is the moon one solid color? i know photos can skip out on the detail.
anyway, this is gorgeous. it manages to not even be christmasy, which is what i see when i see red and green. >_> anyway, i really love this.

Thanks!
The moon is actually Gold Leaf, unfortunately it reflected so much light it came out as white.
!
(I'm glad it's not too Christmasy )

I adore the way you draw birds. You have such gorgeous art. This reminds me of Haida mythology-- they have a few neat stories about ravens.

Yes! I was inspired by the sort of Pan-Native American legend of Raven Steals the Sun.
Thank you for your comment

It seems to me - someone who doesn't know very much about painting but just can tell if he likes or dislikes something because of an emotional reaction to what he sees - that you have a very special style and I like it very much ^_^

That is a very powerful thing to say, and I am humbled. I thank you very much, Daniel.

Yes, I am exploring new ways to paint, but rather than changing, I think of it as adding new tools. I am glad you still like them!!

Wow, I really like it. Something about how the raven is shaped, I think. And the contrasting red and green.

what a contrast there O_O he seems to be the outstanding outsider, left by the others, trying to take revenge or maybe controlling his anger. I like the fact how the green tries to smother that warlike stain of bloodred. But he is still a dominating facet with the moon. Really cool work

this is awesome, my sister and i love to stroll through the mansfield cemetery, and this time of the year, the crows gather in huge murders and swoop and squawk and blacken the trees . We really love it, this piece eminds me of that, even the title.

Thanks, Lori. You are the second person to talk to me about cemetaries in relation to this piece. I think I'll make a visit.
