He has a nose for money and gold. He could smell a single gold doubloon buried fifty feet deep. And I recall animals in White Agony had gold dust on ‘em when Scrooge went to dig for gold. Maybe that’s what Scrooge smelled on the bear.

That's a very good point, but I'm sorry it's not gold ! However I can tell you that Scrooge didn't smell money and he is not sure about what he smelled, but if this is what he thinks, he's gonna be surprised !
